After Namjoon had told the younger to pick up some of the pieces to try out, they continued doing and soon enough they had found a rhythm to work together.
That's how they wound up sitting across from each other on the living room floor, looking for pieces and trying them together. Taehyun was on his knees, scrambling around to get the pieces Namjoon told him to get next. Said man sat crossed-legged, sunglasses now pushed up onto his head, slicking his hair back and baring his forehead for the world to see. He frowned and scrunched his nose up sometimes as looked at the next instruction on the paper. Wood was still scattered around them, but it was getting less and less every time they found pieces that fit together.
Taehyun was starting to feel his knees hurt, the carpet underneath them burning into his skin through his jeans as he shuffled around the room. They had been working for.. what would it be, an hour? There were so many pieces and he didn't even know why. The old basket he had before didn't look like it harboured so many iron screws. But then again, he didn't think they could get an old basket with spiritual power from an ordinary wood store.
He let his mind wander as he silently grabbed the pieces Namjoon needed next. They got his from an ordinary wood store. Nothing was magical or spiritual about it. He doubted this wood contained the power they needed to travel to the other world. He had hope, he really did. But some part of his mind knew there was a chance of failing. A change of it not creating a portal and a chance of all this work being for nothing. If it didn't work, he'd never see the blonde boy who held his heart again, and-
A sigh left his lips and he forced the thoughts away. He sat up and looked at Namjoon. "Hyung, can we take a break?"
The older dragged his eyes away from the paper, teeth stalling against the leg of his sunglasses. He had took them off and started nibbling at a leg of the glasses, mindlessly keeping it between his teeth as he read the descriptions. The almost fully made basket was stood next to his bend knee. He blinked at the brunette and nodded, lowering the paper onto the floor.
They stood up and Taehyun shook his cramped up legs a little bit before he walked to the kitchen. He reached up and opened a cabinet, pulling out two cups before grabbing some juice. He saw Namjoon walk into the kitchen as he poured them a cup and offered one to the older once he was done. Namjoon accepted it with a soft 'thankyou' and lifted the cup to sip on it. The brunette jumped onto the counter before mimicking the movements.
He could vaguely hear the clock in the living room ticking as he swallowed the cool liquid. They were almost finished, the only thing left to do was the top and the final piece, the iron holder in which the Opal would belong. He had mixed feelings about the thought. The Opal he got from his brother needed to fit, needed to shine and needed to make it work. But if it didn't.. well he didn't want to think about that. Didn't want his thoughts to destroy his sparkle of hope.
When they had both finished their drinks Taehyun hopped off the counter and followed Namjoon back to the living room. This time he sat down fully, protecting his knees from any more carpet burns. Namjoon reached for the paper he left on the floor earlier and looked at it. Then he smiled. "Only two last steps to do, Tae."
The younger looked up and returned the smile, glad they were almost done. Namjoon pointed at a piece and he reached for it immediately. It was the piece that would function as the top. It was rounded and it looked nothing like the top from his old basket. It didn't have fancy engravings. No dancing woman and it didn't even have any sort of words engraved into it. When Namjoon mentioned for him to come over he did and handed the piece to him. The older then combined it with the other half of the top, struggling a bit with the screws but after Taehyun helped him fasted them it created one solid piece. Namjoon grinned and thanked him, glancing down at the paper laying by his ankle. "Okay now the only thing left to do is that iron piece."
