My eyes fluttered open, immediately faced with the sunlight beaming through my window. I groan, turning around and bringing the covers further up my body. I stare at the wall, dreading the day ahead.
Just as I do every other day.
Today is a paperwork day at work— a long one specifically. This means everyone will stay late, leading to the team wanting to go out. And as I have declined their offer to go out the last seven times— I don't think I'll get out of it.
The light of my phone catches my attention, but I don't even have the nerve to reach for it.
A few minutes later, it rings. I groan, forcing myself to answer. Penelope's name displayed on the screen.
"Hello?"
"Hello my little boy genius! Just wanted to make sure you woke up since you guys got back so late from the case yesterday."
"Yeah, I uh— I'm almost done getting ready."
I glance around at my cold body under the covers, lying through my teeth.
"Okay, see you soon!"
I swing my legs out of the covers, slipping on my fuzzy brown slippers.
I slump to the bathroom, I turn the shower on and wait for it to warm. The sink squeaks as I turn on the fossett. I quickly splash some water on my face in hopes to— at the very least— keep my eyes open.
I turn off the sink, and strip. I slide my shirt over my head, trying to divert my eyes from the mirror. To my dismay, I couldn't help but look. My eyes trailing down my chest as I criticize myself for not looking perfect. I sigh, sliding my pajama pants and boxers off my legs.
I stick my hand in the water, feeling it's warm enough I step in. I close my eyes as the warm water slides down my body. My body relaxes at the moment of peace. The deafening silence that fills my mind drifting away as the sound of the water running distracts my mind. I shampoo my hair, then wash it out. Then condition it, and wash my body allowing the conditioner to sit. I then rinse off the body wash, as well as the conditioner.
I turn the shower off, stepping out and immediately shivering from the change in temperature. I reach for my towel, drying myself off and clinging the towel to the bottom half of my body.
I walk to the sink, brushing my teeth, washing my face, and blow-dry my hair— as I don't like going in to work with my hair wet.
