UNFASHIONABLY GEEKY

“arghhh” I groaned. Fucking Mondays! I hate Mondays because it’s the beginning of a new week and that means I have to wait 5 days before I am able to play games non-stop.

I reluctantly pushed myself off my bed and dragged my feet over to my bathroom. I brushed my hair and brushed my teeth and then proceeded to throw my hair up into a messy bun, like always. I also applied a little bit of make-up.

I walked towards my cupboard and groaned. “What am I going to wear? I am useless at choosing clothes!” I muttered to myself.

I picked some jeans and a random t-shirt. And put on my worn out converse.

I walked sleepily downstairs and grabbed an apple.

“Kerina?” my mom called “you are going to be late, hurry up.” She threw my house keys over to me and I walked out the door with a kiss and a goodbye

I walked through the entrance of my school and was glad to find that the halls weren’t very busy. “This must be my lucky day!” I thought happily

I quickly rushed over to my locker to get my books out for first period. “Math first period!? Nope I was wrong this is not my lucky day.” I said to no one in particular.

“Are you talking to yourself?” I heard a familiar voice say.

“Jade!” I said and gave her a quick hug.

“so, math first period then, have fun with that!” she teased and then she turned around walking to her first class swaying her hips slightly. I watched as most of the boys in the hall turned around and virtually drooled looking at her.

"Hah, how predictable" I scoffed.

As I said that something occurred to me, I talk to myself a lot. Could I be insane? hah, but we already knew that. “we?” I questioned myself.

I was so consumed in the thought, I hadn’t realised I was going to be late until the bell rung signalling the start of class.

“shit!” I said running to my first class. I crashed through the door hoping that Mrs Tutley was not there yet. But sadly she was. “Definitely NOT my luck day!” I said under my breath.

Mrs Tutley turned her attention to me, which caused a chain reaction between the students. Before I could say ‘damn’ everyone was looking at me.

“Now Miss Jones, why are you late?” she ask with a raised eyebrow.

“umm… class was a longer way from my locker than I thought?” I said which sounded more like a question rather than an excuse.

“Detention.” She quickly decided and then gestured for me to sit down.

Detention? Ugghh I just wanted to get home. I thought as I made the walk of shame towards my seat. I noticed everyone was still watching me, I had never had this much attention before…

“Kerina” I hear someone whisper behind me. I turned around to see Natalie.

“Hey Natalie.” I whisper back

“detention.” She laughed

“shh… I don’t want to get into any more trouble.” I turned around and listened to what Mrs Tutley was saying.

By the time lunch came I was exhausted from school, I just wanted to go home and sleep. I took a seat next to Natalie with a loud sigh.

Natalie looked over to me and just rolled her eyes. “Kerina, don’t be such a mood killer!”
