Chapter 18

UNFASHIONABLY GEEKY

I noticed a few cars driving up into the car park while Hansel and I were drying ourselves off from the water.

"I think they are here." I said while putting my clothes on over the top of my bathers.

"Yeah, I think that's Ivy's car." he said pointing to the matte black car. I watched as she got out of the car with Jade sitting next to her.

I felt bad for Jade, she told me that she hated Ivy, and that she annoyed the crap out of her but Ivy doesn't seem to understand and insisted on them driving together to the beach.

I heard a loud car engine pulling up into the car park, Lance was here. I glanced over to see that he was getting out of the car.

I waved at him, glad that we weren't fighting anymore, he waved back before walking down to the beach to meet us all.

"Jade!! You made it." I smiled, she knew I didn't really like hugs so she just blew a kiss to me.

I saw another car pulling up, groaning when I realised that it was Chloe. I kept watching when I realised there was another person in the car.

I looked around and saw that everyone who was supposed to be here, is here.

Chloe got out of the car and then the other door opened, when I saw who it was I was lost for words.

My eyes bulged out of my head. What is he doing here? I thought

Hansel was too busy greeting everyone else he didn't see my shocked state, but Lance did.

He followed my line of sight to see me staring at Chloe and Dylan, my pig of an ex-boyfriend.

lance didn't know what Dylan looked like, so obviously he didn't know why I was so scared.

"Ker? Are you okay?" He walked over to me blocking out my sight of Chloe and Dylan.

"No." I shook my head, still trying to process this.

"Whats wrong?" He asked softly

"Do you see that guy Chloe is with?" I asked

"Yeah?"

"Well he was my ex I told you about." I said making eye contact with him.

"What the fúck is he doing here?" He asked angrily, clearly remembering what he did to me.

"Please don't make a scene, I dont want everyone else knowing about what happened." He nodded which left me feeling relieved, but I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling.

I tried to hide behind the crowd of people avoiding Dylan seeing me, he probably knew i was coming because Chloe would've told him. But for now avoiding the situation would be best.

"Hey Hansel, I'm going to sit over at the pier."

He nodded "okay, do you want me to sit with you?" He asked.

I shook my head "nah, it's ok I just need some space from everyone." I smiled, it was half lie, half truth.

I did want some space but also to get away from Dylan.

I took a seat on the pier, dangling my feet over the side into the water.

I faced out into the ocean, sighing. So much had happened in these past weeks, Hansel Lance, Chloe, Natalie and now Dylan.

I was so lost in thought I didn't realised someone had appeared behind me until they sat beside me.

I turned around expecting Jade, Lance or Hansel. It wasn't.

As soon as I recognized who it was I jumped up and distanced myself from them.

"You!" I hissed at Dylan

"Wow, you definitely have changed Kerina." He didn't sound like the same person I meat a year ago. That person is long gone and has turned into a heartless jerk, Chloe has changed him.

"So have you.' I stared in disgust.

"Wow, someone's not happy to see me." He stood up as well and faced me.

"Yeah well, what did you expect? A welcoming with open arms?" I raised an eyebrow at him.

Lance's P.O.V

I looked over to the pier to check on Kerina, I noticed her walking over there before. She probably wanted to get away from her ex or something.

When I looked over I noticed another figure on the pier with her. It was definitely another guy, it is probably Hansel keeping her company.

I looked over at the crowd of people and noticed that Hansel was talking to the other guys, so if Hansel is over there who is with Kerina?

I walked over there watching her carefully. Jade obviously noticed me rushing off randomly she followed behind.

"Lance! Where are you going?" She asked once she caught up.

"Kerina, I think her ex is up there with her." I said

"You mean Dylan?" Jade asked with wide eyes.

"Yeah, I think so? I don't know his name." Jade probably didn't recognize him because she probably has never seen him either.

I stopped to a few meters away from the pier because Jade stepped in front of me blocking my way. "What are you doing?"

"Just watch ok? Kerina probably wants to settle this on her own, you know fight her own battle. But if something bad happens we can go up there." I thought through what she said, realising she was probably right.

I grunted stubbornly and nodded, feeling annoyed that I couldn't help.

I watched the scene play out, there was a lot of yelling from Kerina, and angry hand gestures as she spoke. And then that, Dylan guy was winding her up.

Jade and I watched for a good five minutes before I really couldn't hold on any longer. The more I looked at him the more I hated him, how could he break her heart like that?

Without thinking I pushed past Jade and made my way up to the pier, but before I could reach her she shoved Dylan off the side and he fell into the water.

I watched as she smiled in satisfaction and he put the finger up at her and she returned it with her own finger, he scowled and began his swim to shore.

I couldn't help but feel happy, that she was happy.

OMG I'm back! So super sorry that it's been over a month! But I have been busy with moving house so I haven't had heaps of time to write. But finally here is a chapter!
