Ashton's POV
I pulled into Lillian's driveway, the sky was so dark and it was frigid cold outside. I pulled my jacket close around me before walking to the front door and knocking.
The door opened in front of me as Lillian's mom narrowed her eyes at me before I slowly did the same.
"Lillian took the bus about thirty minutes ago."
Lillian took the bus? She never takes the bus, only to get to town or to get to her photography class. That was my job to take her to school every morning. I nodded to her mom before quickly walking back to my Jeep, and climbing in.
I ripped my phone from the Aux cord and quickly hit the Face Time button. The small words came across the screen, "Lillian isn't available at the moment." After calling 10 more times, I flung my phone in the passenger seat and made my way to school. The same thought playing over in my head, why in the hell did she take the bus.

"Hey, did you guys hear about that girl that walked into on coming traffic."
"Yeah, apparently she was reading a book and didn't hear everyone yelling."
One of the girls rolled their eyes and slammed the locker, "What a freak."
I slowly shut my locker before realizing exactly who they were talking about. I quickly walked out to the front of the campus, Lillian was sitting with Claudia. Claudia's mouth was hanging wide open as Lillian signed to her, quickly.
He ran into me and knocked me out of the way.
I quickly walked over to the table before plopping down in front of Lillian. Her eyes cut to mine as she took a bite of her sandwich. She wasn't even going to tell me what happened so I'm going to push her tell me. I pulled my lunch out before looking up at her, and dropping my food.
"Why did you ride the bus this morning?"
Wanted to?
"Lillian, you never ride the bus. Are you going to tell me what happened that night?"
Her eyes furrowed together, she was damn good at hiding things but I was going to get this out of her one way or another. I smacked the table, watching the food move around and people look around.
"You walked out in front of traffic!? What did I tell you about going alone places."
"Especially on a Friday night."
Claudia narrowed her eyes and looked at me and back at Lillian, "Wait, you told me that Lillian had to stay in that she couldn't get frozen yogurt and hang out with us."
Shit.
I slowly squeezed my eyes shut, I didn't want to look at Lillian but I was going to have to. I slowly looked over at her, her eyes were starting to turn red around her eyelids. Oh please, don't cry.
"Lil, I'm s-"
Her hands flew up before she flung her food off the table. I knew I was in for it now, as she grabbed her backpack and flung it on her back, and looked at me once more.
I can't believe you would do me like this. I had no problem with you and Claudia going to the movies but you fucking lied to me Ashton! We are supposed to be best friends. What, you didn't want to have to drag around the deaf girl. Whatever, stay away from me.
Lillian's hands moved at lighting speed as she flung them down to her side before storming off back down the hill. I looked over at Claudia who had grabbed her things and went inside, as I sat at the table alone.
