(Tendou's POV)~

I woke up to my phone ringing. (Y/N) was laying at my side and I was still fully dressed in my school clothes.

I must've fallen asleep after Highschool Musical last night.

I rubbed my eyes as they adjusted to the bright light of the phone.

"Hello?" I answered the phone, my voice cracking and groggy.
Who would call me at 4 in the morning?

"Tendou. Its me. Your mom's had an accident. She's safe right now so don't worry about that, take your time to get here."
He hung up instantly.

My eyes widened and my mouth dropped open as I scrambled to my feet, trying not to wake (Y/N).
I tripped down the stairs, landing on my side.

"Shit!" I yelled. I wasn't used to having stairs, this was (Y/N)'s house after all.

"Satori?" I heard a quiet voice yell.  A light turned on and she walked towards me, her hand grazing the walls to keep balance.

"Hey baby, somethings come up. I really have to go." I ran up the stairs and kissed her forehead then I went to slip on my shoes.

I ran outside, only to remember that I had ran here from school.
"Ughhhh, why now!" I groaned, pacing back and forth, my hands on my head.

"Satori, get in." (Y/N) was sitting in a small car with her window down.
I ran and got in the seat beside her. Mom was going to be fine. I hope.
_________

"Listen, it's going to be alright. I promise." (Y/N) took my hand and smiled at me.
I had my elbow resting on the door and my eyes glued to the window.

Why now mom? Why did this have to happen the one night I'm gone?

(Y/N) traced circles on the top of my hand with her thumb.

"Okay, we're here." She said, unblocking herself and me.
It's crazy how fast she can wake up when someone needs her help.
____________

"MOM!" I ran to her. She was laying in a bed in room 212. Her regular room.

"What exactly happened?" I asked one of the nurses.

"Your neighbour said he found her on the floor close to your room. We're almost positive she fainted again."

"Who is 'he'" (Y/N) asked, butting in between me and the nurse.

"Uh, that would be me..."
Tomoyo stood in the hall, his hand behind his neck.

(Y/N) started stomping towards him. I grabbed her arm to stop her.

"Why were you in my house?" I asked with a straight face.

"I... I wanted to apologize, and when I heard a bang and no response I felt like I should check to make sure everything's ok." He stuttered.

I could tell he wasn't lying.

"Thank you so much for bringing her here." I pulled Tomoyo into a hug.

He stood there awkwardly, with a shocked look on his face.

"Don't get used to me being nice to you okay?" I told him after wiping my eyes. I didn't even notice tears were falling.

My mother often passed out due to low energy and stamina. She slept a lot and basically stayed in her bed all day. She grows weak easily.

She also gets anxious easily.

"Mom, I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you last night! I should have told you I was going somewhere." I sat on a stool beside the bed, grabbing her hand.

Her eyes opened slightly and she smiled.
"I'm happy you're safe." She answered, closing her eyes again, falling asleep.

"She'll be fine after a bit of rest Tendou, no need to worry. You should rest too. It's pretty early." The nurse gave me a smile and patted me on the back.
____________

"It's all my fault." I whimpered, sitting on the swings in front of my house.

(Y/N) was sitting on the one beside me.
It was weird having someone swing with me. Usually I was all alone.

"She could have died." I put my hands on my head again, my sight getting cloudy.
I knew I was overreacting.

"You CAN NOT say that. She wouldn't have died Satori and you know that. You aren't  ALLOWED to think that." (Y/N) glared at me.

"YOU WOULDN'T KNOW!" I shouted at her. It came out way louder than I was trying.

Do you ever say things you don't mean? Things that, when you think back, make absolutely no sense. Things that make you wonder, "why did I even say this? It's not what I was thinking".
I was having one of those moments.
A time when you just have to yell to feel better.

"You think I don't know?" She got up, then stood directly in front of me.
"Well guess what? My family life isn't too great. I'm 16 and I live alone. You think that's normal?" She started, her voice rising in volume.

"MAYBE IT ISN'T ALWAYS ABOUT YOU!"
I flinched at my own words.
I stood up and took deep breaths, trying to calm myself down...

Who do I think I am? She didn't do anything wrong.

"How do you think I feel right now. THIS VERY SECOND?" She screamed. Tears in her eyes.

I was speechless. My heart hurt.

"I'M the one who invited you over last night. I'M the one who didn't bother to tell you to call your mom. I'M THE ONE WHO KEPT YOU FROM BEING WITH HER." She was crying now.

"No... (Y/N)... it wasn't your fault." I hugged her. Guilt was all I felt, along with a scary amount of calmness. She didn't move, she just put her face in my chest.

This wasn't her fault.  And to be completely honest, it wasn't as big of a big deal as I made it seem. My mom has regular incidents like these. I'm used to this stuff.

"Why did my dad have to leave me?" She whispered through her sobs.  At that moment, I froze.
Any air from my lungs had been squeezed out and my mind was empty.

I answered her by hugging her even tighter, my cheeks getting wetter by the second. This time she hugged me back. I could feel her shoulders shaking and the tears soaking though my shirt.

"I'm so sorry baby." I whispered in her ear.  All she did was nod, her crying getting louder and her hands gripping onto the back of my coat tighter.

At that moment I realized something.

Some people have shittier lives than I do.
I need to help (Y/N) the way she helps me everyday.
I'm going to start giving back.
