Billie

"Your dumbass owes me later for forcing me to come to this shit show," I mutter at Xavier while he drags me into a stranger's kitchen.

"You can handle one last high school party," he rolls his eyes while pouring himself a drink.

"It's August."

"People like to stretch these things out here, I guess."

"I decided I was done with these my freshman year so, anyway, no, I don't feel like being here tonight."

"Tolerate it, at least, for me Billie," he pouts.

"I ammmm tolerating it," I whine, he offers me a drink but I decline.

"Still not drinking?" He questions.

"Nah, maybe, I will soon. Or never, I don't know," I shrug. "I don't really feel the need to put that shit in my body."

"You're a smart girl, low-key kinda envious of you. My brain probably a bit slower than yours."

"Everyone wants to be me," I smirk sarcastically.

"Okayyyyy let's not get cocky miss thang'. But I'm pretty sure everyone wants to be the Billie Eilish... or be with you..." he stares off, thinking. "Or... both. Not sure, exactly."

"Make a poll, let the fans decide," I joke. "Anyway, I'll let you take me out for a drink on my 21st if you want. I'll drink then... cause it's like a celebration."

"Obviously I'm taking you out for that. Maddie can come too since I know how much you love her company over mine," he teases.

"Xavier— ugh, you're fucking impossible. Where is Maddie anyway?" I ask looking around.

"Hm, with Syd?" He suggests while taking a drink.

I notice Maddie giggling beside Sydney. Both sat on the couch in the living room with drinks in hand. Sydney is scrolling through her phone as Maddie watches whatever they're laughing at.

"Maddie!" I call out. She doesn't hear me. "Maddie!!" A little louder this time. Nothing.

"Don't waste your time," says Xavier. "She's not gonna hear you over this noise."

"It's not even that loud though. Jesus, is she gonna make me walk over there?" I groan.

"Aw," Xavier sticks his lip out. "Use those tiny legs c'mon," he teases. "You do all that jumpin' at shows, you'd think you wouldn't be so lazy."

"I'm just tire— actually, never mind. I'm not explaining this to you," I wave my hand in his face with an eye roll and exit the kitchen.

As I walk to the duo Maddie finally notices me.

"Billie!" She cheers, a bit tipsy.

"Hi," I smile softly as I caress the top of her head. She grabs my waist and pulls me into her lap. I giggle in response. She and Sydney continue to snicker at whatever is playing on Sydney's phone.

"What are you guys laughing at?" I question.

"I don't know," Sydney laughs. "But it's fucking hilarious."

Maddie wipes a tear from her eye as she giggles. "I'm crying. I'm crying," she laughs.

"You two are drunk as shit," I laugh. "I can't even decipher what's happening right now."

I roll my eyes at their ridiculous behavior and sink into Maddie's lap trying to ignore the buzz around me.

Later, I find Jade sat on a huge couch in the basement. She's sipping on a can of coke while watching television on the flat screen. She's alone.
