"Hey, Aquila, do you have plans for the Holidays?", Fred asked Aquila as they sat at the Astronomy tower, taking in the view. Aquila looked down and frowned. She shook her head and Fred nodded. "Staying at Hogwarts?", he asked. Aquila nodded and sighed.

"I'm used to it though, it's always been this way since the second year.", Aquila explained. Fred felt a small ache for Aquila. He hated looking at Aquila's sad eyes. He wondered if he could do something about it, but considering his parent's views about her family they won't allow it. Although, he doesn't lose anything in trying.

"I'll be back, I need to go get something from my dorm.", Fred said and Aquila hummed in response. He went down the Astronomy Tower stairs and ran through the corridors to get to the Gryffindor common room to his dorm. When he arrived at his dorm, he sat on his red sheeted bed and took the notepad from under his bed. He took out a quill and began to write.

Dear Mom and Dad,

I hope you are both doing great at home. I'm writing to ask you both something regarding Christmas break. I have made a new friend, and she isn't spending Christmas with her family this year and it isn't the first time. She has been spending Christmas alone for the past three years. So I was wondering since Harry is going to spend Christmas with us, could Aquila Phoenix spend Christmas with us? I know how you both feel about her family, but she isn't like them, I swear. Since she's a girl and knowing you mom, you won't feel comfortable with her sleeping in my room. She could sleep with Ginny and Hermione in Ginny's room. Please consider the thought, and write as soon as you can since Christmas break is the 16th.

With great love,

Fred

Fred sighed and put the letter in an envelope, then gave it to his owl. The beautiful dirt brown owl flew away and headed towards the place Fred called home, the Burrow. He walked back to the Astronomy Tower, only to see a platinum-haired boy called Draco Malfoy sitting next to Aquila. Fred decided to listen to their conversation.

"Do your parents know?", the platinum-haired boy asked. Aquila shook her head.

"And they can't know either. They'd just see me as more of a disappointment. But whatever happens, I don't think I'll have a choice." Aquila cleared up with a frown. The boy nodded and murmured 'I know, me too'. Fred looked down with a frown and walked away from the pair. He felt his chest ache, and it hurt him. He wondered what they were talking about. What is Aquila hiding from her parents? Why won't she have a choice, and for what? Questions like those were running through Fred's mind. He didn't find it strange for her to be talking to Malfoy since most Slytherins are close or at least get along, but he couldn't help but for it to bother him. He always thought Draco was a git. Always insulting him and his family with no hesitation. But he looked sad while talking to Aquila, and so did she. He wanted to find out what was going on, but he didn't know-how.
