Only Alishaa
Looking at the sun setting when restless is the only thing seems to work for Rashid. He locked the screen of his phone and looked at the sky, letting out a breath he unlocked the phone and stared at the picture again. It would seem ridiculous for others the way he is obsessed with her picture but it is the only thing he can fully sulk to. It is like a daily reminder to always check her picture, the same picture he took three years ago.
He chuckled remembering the words he laughed at years ago 'loving can hurt' He never believed he will find himself in this situation but the best thing he did was accepting it. Memories of the past flooded his mind cracking his heart, like it always does when he goes deep in thinking.
Feeling too much emotions at once he locked the phone putting in his pocket. At this moment he only wants anything that will take his mind off her. He ran a hand through his hair upon dropping it, he caught a sight that made his eyes widened.
"Oh my days!" he blurted, moving closer to the railing to get a better look at Faaris's face, he couldn't believe he catching a full sight of Faaris's smile. He was about to yell for Naadir but stopped himself taking in the moment. Five years and a couple of months his brother is smiling again. He felt as though he wants to cry or maybe scream in happiness. He doesn't know what to do.
He looked at Alishaa and saw the same smile on her face, he smiled and shook his head. Deciding to wait inside for Faaris. He might not have reacted but he surely will tease him, it is not something for every day.
"Guess what I just saw?" he muttered the moment he saw Naadir. He looked at him and wiggled his brows, "I am not good at guessing, you know" Naadir said, whining. "Alright, alright... Faaris laughing" Naadir opened his mouth hung open, "Say wallahi?" he screamed, "Wallahi, I saw him walking back with Alishaa" Naadir jumped dapping Rashid, "I am going to do sadaqa today" he said excitedly. "It is worthy, we wait for him though, it is almost time for Maghrib he is coming back up" Rashid said, feeling erratic.
A couple of minutes later Faaris strutted in, with a smile on his face.
"Ya Salaam!!" Rashid and Naadir screamed staring at Faaris, he looked between them and rolled his eyes, saying, "Okay, what?"
Rashid let out a gasped and fell on the couch then sat up again looking at Faaris, "I forgot what your smile looks like" he said.
"I think it will rain today!" Naadir said, glancing at the windows.
"You both are crazy" Faaris said, changing his shoes from sneakers to flip-flops and walked to the dining table, he took a bottle of water. "We have been trying to make you laugh all these years, but it never worked" Rashid stated still staring at Faaris, "Are you trying to say I never smile?"
"Why do you think kids run away from you?" he deadpanned, Faaris held the water bottle tightly and threw it towards Rashid. He dodged it, and it landed on the grey rug. Rashid bent down and took the bottle throwing it back at Faaris, who caught it and placed it on the table, turning the cap to open it.
"But who made you smile?" Naadir asked. Faaris ignored him and gulped down water, Naadir was about to ask some more when the doorbell rang. "Oh, it is what I ordered!" Rashid said and jumped up from the couch going to the door, slightly tripping on the way.
"You didn't answer me" Naadir looked back at Faaris expectantly, "I didn't hear you!" Faaris replied. Naadir groaned knowing he heard him but chose to ignore.
Unable to hold his curiosity he asked again, "What made you smile?"
"Or who?" Rashid joined in with a smirk on his face. He came back with medium sized box in his hand and placed it in front of the couch and sat down.
