CHAPTER FORTY;
Alishaa was more than comfortable and glad she found Nihaal, it excites and scares her how she is starting to get attached to everyone she meets lately, first the boys and now Nihaal. She was sure meeting the boys really changed her from being the friendless girl to being friends with three people, close friends too and the one which she doesn't know where he stands.
This got her thinking why Faaris has been ignoring her and turned her down every time she tries talking to him. She thought maybe it was his moody day when he first came back but no he has been like that all week, she decided to go with the thought that maybe something happened in Lebanon, since if she asks Rashid and Naadir what happened they just shrugged it off.
"So yeah, MamaNadee, we got cashed by a dog" Said Nihaal laughing as she tells Nadiya about the incident that happened a while ago with her and Alishaa.
"Well next time, you'll think twice before saying 'hello cutie' to any dog you see"
"Have you gotten any idea about your brothers?" Asked Nadiya taking a sip of her iced chocolate
"No... But I will do something about it! Wait why is Alishaa isn't at work?" She asked trying to change the topic, she sure doesn't want them to find out she came here on a different purpose and she definitely knows them. And a little part of her doesn't want to be away from this family of two that are a lot better than her whole family.
"I got a day off, since Renzo thought I have been working too much!" She said confusedly because Renzo never gives her a day off. Then remembered maybe he gave her to stay away from Faaris after the yelling she got from him. Even though Faaris looks intimidating and scary, she has feeling he's hurting from whatever thing he is not saying.
"Alright girls, let me check the food, the boys can be here any moment" The moment she said that and stood up the doorbell rang.
"Oh they are here, Lishaa get the door" She said and entered the kitchen
"The boys?" Asked Nihaal, who knows who they are but had to play the act
"Yeah, the guys that live on the second floor, which are basically my brothers-" She said walking to the door before she stopped
"Oh right except one" She rolled her eyes thinking about Faaris, at the same time having a worried expression
"The CEO?" Asked Nihaal, trying to hide her smile the fact that Alishaa cares about her brother really excites her.
"Yeah the CEO now shh!" Said Alishaa as she unlocked and twisted the doorknob. She opened the door, to find a smiling Naadir, a grinning Rashid and an emotionless Faaris. Who looks like he would rather be anywhere but here.
"Hello my queen" Said Naadir in a British accent, that he doesn't seem to suit him
"Hello my King" Said Alishaa in her own attempted British accent that rolls off better than Naadir's.
"Hey Lishaa" Said Rashid smiling as she moved for them to enter, after her little show with Naadir he entered.
"Hey Rashy...guess what??" She wiggled her brows
"What???" His eyes widened
"Lasagne and chicken wings" She said as she giggled at Rashid's expression
"Can i get married to you?" He said grinning widely, as he held her hand. Faaris tensed up, for some reason he doesn't know.
"Unfortunately no, i am already taken" She said laughing
"Well i have made with a great lost today but then lasagne and chicken wings are waiting for me, so that will do now" He said grinning as he walked into the house, with the intention of going directly to the kitchen.
Alishaa looked up at Faaris who's looking at her, his eyes looked sad to her, as if he was trying to hold on and could break down any moment. She averted her eyes and closed the door. Faaris internally scolded himself for looking at her too much, he can't help but look at her every time she's near him.
"Arhrhrh...hey" She said clearing her voice, he gave her a short nod and walked off.
Alishaa walked shortly after him, to find something really weird or not. Nihaal grinned looking at Faaris who looked really confused.
"Hello brother!" She grinned wider
Faaris looked at Nihaal and his friends then back to Alishaa and her mother who are confused.
"So you two are siblings?" Asked Alishaa
"Yeah we are...they are the brothers i have been looking for" Said Nihaal, holding Faaris's arms
"You two really met by the road side or?" Asked Faaris, looking at his sister, suspecting her sudden appearance 'by mistake' as she says
"Enough with how Nail got here, let's have dinner... Lishaa arrange the table please" Ordered Nadiya, Alishaa stood up immediately, Faaris was about to ask if she needs any help when she asked Naadir.
"Hey Nashy, help me with the table?"
"Yeah sure" He stood up and followed her to the dining room. Faaris sighed and leaned more into the couch. Rashid and Nihaal, who were pretending to be in a conversation noticed it and fist bumped each other, feeling glad they are taking his attention from checking what the day is. As they have been doing with Naadir since last night, from changing the date on the phone to cancelling his alarms for the day.
Knowing how important this day is to him and how crazy he can be on this very day. At the same time trying to provoke him into admitting he has feelings for Alishaa, not knowing he has already given up.
They all went to the dining room, after Alishaa finished setting it, quicker than usual with the help of Naadir, who seems like a pro in setting the table she noticed.
Alishaa sat opposite Faaris next to Naadir at the last seat of the row. They prayed and started eating, with Faaris's plate still empty. He was about to take a sandwich, when Alishaa kept lasagne and chicken salad on his plate, with a mustard sauce and ketchup, in two different small saucers. He looked up at her, to find her eating her own food, acting like she wasn't the one that added it to his plate. He looked at the mustard thinking whether it has ingredients that he is allergic to or not.
"There isn't any Garlic or Mushroom" Said Alishaa, he looked up at her, as their eyes met for some seconds before she turned and joined in the others conversation of teasing Rashid.
"Oh come let the boy eat! They are just jealous they can't eat like you" Scolded Nadiya teasingly
"Oh not you two Maah" He whined while they all laughed. Alishaa noticed Faaris becoming quiet than usual. He seemed to be spacing out a lot. Knowing even if she talks to him, he wouldn't talk to her, she sighed and let it go.
"Is Faaris actually eating a real?-Scratch that, Normal food?" Asked Nihaal sounding amused
"It's not a big deal!" He scoffed
"It is, if it is the Faaris Ahfaad we talking about" She said in unison with Rashid, they looked at each other smiling, a little longer than they should. Alishaa cleared her throat gaining their attention and Faaris, who was looking at his sister and best friend confusedly.
"Uhum...i will go to Mrs Zach real quick, i promised her lasagne" Said Nadiya standing up
"I will take -" Started Alishaa but got cut off by her mother
"No no, i will take it, take care of my boys! I made them leave work today"
"Sure madam" Said Alishaa in an Italian accent, saluting her mother dramatically, making them laugh.
After eating they cleaned the table and moved to the living room playing games, from board games to video games and IQ test games and 30 teammate questions, the ones with more points wins as they answer hard questions.
"Lishaa who are you partnering up with? The other one will be the judge" Asked Rashid
She looked at Naadir then Faaris, just then his phone started ringing "Naadir" She said knowing Faaris hates getting interrupted from his calls. Faaris felt disappointed but decided it's for the best, and stood up taking the call.
