Reality-check

Naadir dropped his phone on the car booth and hit his fist next to the phone repeatedly. He clenched and unclenched his hands breathing heavily. Reality seems to always check on him on the less expected times. Sometimes he uses his 'it is what it is' Ideology and other times he can't help it but lose control. As he held his head in his hands, he wondered where he'd be if he didn't have any faith or where he will end up if his parents were alive.

He leaned his body on the car and unbuttoned his suit jacket. Surely, he'd feel at more peace with his parents, he will feel loved and maybe he will be happier. His mind shifted to Faaris and how he has been living though his parents are alive he is a lost soul. He acts as though everything is fine and he can take on everything but he is still a boy that needs love.

The both of them only had each other since the beginning, at their lowest. They became men since in their teens, though it was hard, it was worth it he thought. Because they became fearless and limitless also. He started feeling better thinking about Faaris, a person he genuinely loves and will always be there for.

Slightly feeling better, he took his phone and forwarded a message. He made sure he locked the car then took the grocery bags and turned to walk to his apartment when a view caught his eyes across the basket ball field.

His eyes widened and he subconsciously walked closer to get a better view. Faaris and Alishaa were playing football on the court, a wide smile spreads on his face. He was about to walk to them but he stopped and watched instead after a few minutes he went home leaving them still playing.

As he opened the door to the apartment whilst still beaming, he met Rashid's curious eyes. "Alright I have been quiet for a long time, now tell me what's up?" Rashid said as if he has been waiting or eternity when it was just a few seconds.

Naadir giggled and sat on the couch crossing his legs, he said, "Oh nothing just witnessed a very beautiful scene, it is something I didn't witness in my years of living"

He kept the grocery on the floor next to his legs, as Rashid dropped on the center table in front of him, "Will you just tell me? Curiosity is killing me" he said, tapping his legs impatiently.

"So, I just witnessed the one and only Faaris Ahfaad laughing and playing football" Rashid's eyes widened, as though he hadn't seen the scene weeks back.

"Are you serious? Tell me more" he said excitedly, "So when I woke up, Faaris wasn't around he went for his morning! Remember yesterday we forgot to go buy the groceries?"

"Yeah?"

"I went down this morning to get it, as I was walking back, I saw Faaris and Alishaa playing football on the basketball court"

"Wow! Wait with Alishaa?" Rashid asked, imagining the scene.

"Yeah"

"It seems like she's breaking down his guards and I predicted it to you but you didn't believe me" he reasoned, "It's not that I didn't believe you, I was just not sure" Naadir shrugged.

Raashid hummed and said, "Whatever..." Naadir stood up taking the bags with him, and walked towards the dining table, putting the groceries on the table when Raashid hesitantly called his name, "Naads?"

"Yeah?" he answered glanced at him then back at the jam container, "Weren't you like, liking Alishaa?" Rashid asked, carefully scanning him coming to his side.

Naadir froze bewildered, he kept the jar and turned to Raashid, "Nahh Rash, I like her but not like that, like a brother sister type of like" he explained sternly.
