“Luke honey, there’s someone at the door for you!” mum called.
I dropped my pencil against my note book and opened my bedroom door. When I got to the door I saw Ashlynn standing there. I thanked mum and stood t the door, holding the frame in one hand.
“What are you doing here?” I asked.
“Did you know about Daisy?” she asked.
“Yeah but I figured it out. No one told me. It’s been six months Ashlynn. You haven’t called. Haven’t texted. What’s been going on?” I asked.
“I’ve turned my phone off,” she answered.
“Now that’s bullshit,” not buying her answer.
“Well it’s the truth. I just couldn’t take one more text or one more phone callfrom someone asking me if I was ok or trying to tell me it wasn’t my fault. I didn’t want to talk to anyone and everyone seems to be mad at me for that”
“Because we’re worried about you. We have no idea if you’re ok. You haven’t touched your Facebook in six months and your mum always answers the phone saying you’re out so literally have no way to contact you. Ashlynn you’re scaring us”
“Why?” she asked, looking up at me with teary eyes.
“Because we care about you and the only person you’ll talk to is your mum or fucking Dan and he won’t tell us anything”
“That’s because I asked him not to”
“Why?”
“Because I’m trying to distance myself from Daisy and everyone close to her”
“Ashlynn I’m not even close with her. I care about you more then you understand and it kills me to see you like this”
“I told Daisy,” she after a moment of silence.
“What?” I asked in confusion.
“I told her you were my first. She was mad of course…but I’m angrier”
“Ash it’s not her fault”
“Bullshit it’s not her fault”
“I’m her best friend and she kept this from me”
“It was your idea o keep us from her”
“Us? What us? There is no us, Luke. It was a one time thing”
“A one time thing? Ashlynn I fucking love you,” I said and she just stared at me blankly.
“Since when?”
“Since like…the Monday after we had sex. You were all I can think about…you’re still all I can think about. Ashlynn I love you”
“Luke I’m with Dan. I have been for six months”
“That doesn’t mean you don’t love me back”
“I’m sorry but I don’t. I love him”
“Has he told you he loves you?”
“No. But what does that have to do with anything? He was there for me”
“Only because you wouldn’t let me be there for you. You shut us all out. I bet you have no idea that Mikey and Blake are on the verge of breaking up. Or that Calum andJessica started dating. You wouldn’t know any of that because you’re just running away from your problems”
She sniffled then looked me in the eyes, “my parents are divorced. Have been since February. My brother is never home. My dad’s been cheating on my mum since she was pregnant with me. I’m dying on the inside and I can’t handle everything that’s going on around me. I punched Tanya’s face in today because she pushed me too far. And I’m just…done”
“All you have is yourself to blame Ashlynn,” I said truthfully.
She looked to her right, her body swaying before she walked off, her hands in her pockets. I watched her walk until she was at the end of the street before I went back inside.
“She seemed very upset,” mum said suddenly.
“She is,” I shrugged.
“You should have invited her inside”
“We’re uh…kind of fighting”
“You love her though…don’t you?”
“Yeah but she doesn’t care. She’s with this guy who I can’t even say is a douche bag because he’s not, he's a really nice guy. And it just kills me because I’ve told her twice now, six months apart, that I love her and he hasn’t said it at all,” I said with a huff.
“Love can be tough. But hey, at least you have me here to help you get through it,” she smiled.
“Thanks mum,” I said then hugged her tightly.
“That’s ok baby. Do you want me to make you a tea?” she asked then let me go.
“Yes please”
“Go and continue studying and I’ll bring it in to you,” I smiled and kissed her forehead before walking back to my room.
Only short and I'm sorry. I hate this so much but I feel like Ashlynn right now.
