*Fira POV*

After the breif interruption of the strange, dark witch, I was much more interested in getting to the castle before anything else could stop us. I rushed the princess through the forest, sometimes carrying her whenever it was faster or more efficient.

We managed to reach the other side of the forest in record time, without any sign of trouble from the witch. It was like she was just a figment of my imagination.

"Well," The princess said, as we reached the doors of the castle, "Thank you so much, fair Fira. Whatever can I do to repay you?"

"Oh, no need," I replied, "Just knowing that I helped you get home safe is good enough for me."

"But I must do something! Please, come in and rest for a while."

"No, I can't," I shook my head, "I have to return to my master and tell him what happened. Just make sure you stay safe and try not to go too far into the forest."

"I will," She said with a gentle smile, "Be sure to take care of yourself."

"Good day, Princess."

"The same to you, knight."

I walked away from the castle, leaving the princess watching me from behind. Once I was sure I was out of view, I hopped on my keyblade glider and my armor appeared around me, as I took off into the air.

When I landed again, I was in front of master's tower. I didn't even hesitate at the stairs, charging up and bursting through the door to his study.

"Master I-!"

I cut myself off, when I saw that there was someone else in the office. Master Xehanort was standing across the desk from Master Yen Sid.

"Fira!" Yen Sid said, seeing me come in, "What has happened?!"

"Pardon my interruption," I said, bowing my blushing face out of sight, "I-I wasn't aware you had company."

"No need for apologies," Xehanort said, waving a hand through the air, "Tell us what news you have."

"O-of course!" I exclaimed, standing up straight, "Master, I was at the world you sent me to, and I came across a strange witch. She knew of the princesses of light and the other worlds out there!
She even knew what a keyblade was!"

"Hmm," Master Yen Sid said, running a hand through his beard, "This is... dangerous."

"Yes," Xehanort replied, "A very volatile situation. I will inform Master Eraquis, but for now I must go and prepare."

Xehanort walked past me and out of the tower, disappearing down the stairs. I turned back to Yen Sid and stood in front of his desk, waiting for him to speak.

"He's correct, the darkness is growing rapidly," He sighed, "It is time to complete your Mark of Mastery."

"Master! I will not fail this!"

"I have faith you won't," He looked at me through determined eyes, "There is a world called the Destiny Islands. Go, there you will find your Mark of Mastery."

"Thank you sir," I replied, bowing low, "I depart at once."

*Y/n POV*

Once my arm had been healed, I continued my walk through the woods, leaving the girl to find her own way home. I had my own mission, and she seemed more than capable to get home on her own.

At least that was the excuse I told Chirithy when he got angry.

"When will you show yourself?" I whispered to myself, searching through the darkest part of the woods, "I know you're here..."

"Who're you talking to?" The familiar dark voice replied, "I'm always here."

I noticed the world had gone completely still. No more rustling leaves or flowing breeze, even Chirithy had seemed to disappear. The dark voice was mocking me again, coming from anywhere and everywhere.

"Care to show yourself?" I taunted, "Or are you too scared to face me?"

The dark voice chuckled, "Don't give yourself too much credit, Y/n!"

Suddenly, a shadowy figure appeared from behind a tree. It was much shorter than me, but there was something off about it.

"A darkling..." I said, my voice trailing off.

"Not just any darkling," It said, it's voice high-pitch yet recognizable, "Your darkling. Born from the darkness in your heart."

"What?! Impossible!" I shouted, "I haven't fallen to the darkness! I can still wield a keyblade!"

"Maybe not you, per-say," The darkling said, looking at it's sharp claws, "But a version of you gave hi heart up to darkness, and I was brought here with you."

"What are you talking about!?" I shouted, "Nothing you say makes any sense!"

"Such a fool," My darkling chuckled, "But today is not the day for our fight. It is destined for another day."

"Why come out then?! Why show yourself if you're not going to fight?!"

"To allow you the knowledge that I am always here," The familiar voice said, as the darkling disappeared into darkness again, "And to help you with the realizations that are to come. Bes tof luck to you. To us."
