Giving up..

Renae's POV

Renae waited outside. Allina was talking, but Renae wasn't really listening, she was more focused on this mysterious person.

"Oh! Do you remember when you broke your mother's vase!" Allina laughed.

Renae looked up and narrowed her eyes, "If I recall. You were the one who broke it."

Allina stiffened, "okay you got me there."

"I can't believe that was only, what I'm seventeen today." Renae mumbled.

"Today's your birthday!" Allina asked. Renae only replied with a nod. "Happy birthday RayRay!"

Renae shot Allina a sharp glare, "You know I hate that nickname."

"Hey Renae." Hope said and then noticed Allina, "Who is this."

Renae shrugged, "She's an old friend."

Allina wrapped her arm around Renae's neck, despite being a lot more shorter, "yep! Me and RayRay go way back!"

Henry raised an eyebrow, "RayRay?"

Renae rolled her eyes, "It's an old nickname." She grabbed Allina's hand and tossed it off. She started forwards her friends, "Guys I think we might have a lead." She held the picture out pointing to the guy in the background.

"Wasn't the street empty that day?" Henry asked.

"Yea. It was. Besides from us and a few others but they were no where near us." Hope commented.

Renae gazed around noticing Lucky wasn't here, "Hey Wheres Lucky?"

Henry shrugged, "Lucky had to stay home with his mom." He said.

Renae nodded. "But do you recognize the guy?"

Hope shook her head, "I've never seen anyone like them. You Henry?" Hope looked to Henry, who was silent.

"I know him..." Henry whispered, his eyes wide. "That's Ethan Kort! Or someone from the Kort family.. I can't place my finger on it. It would make since why they would want Rosie. Since they were in an arranged marriage, but why would they want Bristle." He said tapping his chin.

Renae blinked at the photo.. "We need to tell Rosie's parents! That we have a suspect."

Renae knocked. The door opened and Caroline stood there, "What do you want?"

"I need to talk to your parents!" Renae said.

"They don't want to talk to you." She snarled.

"Caroline? Whos that?" Caroline went to shut the door but Mrs.Aarons got to the door. "Renae? What's going on?"

"We think we have a lead." Renae said.

"A lead?" Mrs.Aarons echoed, "Who?"

"The Korts." Renae replied handing over the picture, "in the background."

Mrs.Aarons studied the picture, "By gosh that's Ein Kort... He's Ethan's twin. KARTHER!" She called behind her.

Mr.Aarons came running over, "What?" Mrs.Aarons explained, "I'll get a team to go down and see."

"Sir! Let me and my friend Hope go. After all it's our girlfriends..." Renae pleaded.

Mr.Aarons was quiet... "Maybe. We lost our daughter.. We can't lose you." He said turning away and heading into the house.

Mrs.Aarons watched her husband walk off. "Renae hun do you wanna come in. It's cold out here."

Renae shook her head, "No I'm fine. My friends are waiting for me.." she mumbled, turning away, she made her way down the path. She looked back to make sure she was out of sight. Tears formed in her eye and she leaned against the fence as tears rolled down her cheeks.

She looked to the sky and sighed, she was so over this. She slid down to the ground and let out a sigh. She shut her eyes, "Maybe I should just give up." She could feel a lump forming in her throat.

"Renae?" She could hear Allina's voice.

"What Allina."

"Renae you never give up.. why are you giving up now?"

"Allina I'm not the same person I was 7 years ago... back then I.. I didn't have anything to worry about... Now I've lost so much more then you could imagine... That takes a toll on someone." She growled softly. "I've lost my parents, I lost my grandpa, I lost my other grandparents all because of my sexuality.. Ive lost my confidence in myself, I've lost Rosie."

"That's not what I meant." Allina started but Renae cut her off.

"Allina I'm not fixable... I was broken after my parents, I was repaired after my grandfather took me in.. then he died.."

"Renae."

"Allina I'm beyond repair now!" Renae growled.

"Renae your not listening!" Allina argued.

"Then what!"

"Renae I know your not the same person! I know your broken! I know you're beyond repair right now! But why give up when you're so close..."
