Lucky's POV

(TW: Abuse! You have been warned)

Lucky followed behind Bristle into the hospital room. He froze seeing a girl in the bed with an IV, and breathing tube connected to her.

"Is that Hope?" Lucky whispered to Henry, who just stood there..

"Huh?" Henry looked up at Lucky, "oh yeah... That's my older sister."

"She has so many bandages.. and IV tubes..." Lucky shuddered his ears pinned down.

Henry nodded, "This is the best she's been in the whole time she's been here.."

"This is the best?" Lucky stared wide eyed.

"You should've seen her when she first got here." Henry shuddered.

Lucky didn't dare ask, he looked over at Bristle who had now pulled a chair next to the bed and gently stroked Hope's face. Lucky looked down and Henry's hand, he slowly reached for it, but then noticed that Renae was already holding Henry's other hand.. Lucky pulled his hand away and shoved his hands in his pockets.

Lucky walked over to the bed and stared at the sleeping witch. She looked almost exactly like Henry, but with longer hair. He looked over at Bristle, "She's really lucky to have you..."

Bristle shrugged. "I haven't done much. I just visit."

"From what I've heard, you've been here often.." Lucky let out a dry chuckle.

A small smile crept on Bristle's face, "Just everyday.... I can't go a day without seeing her beautiful face...." There was love in the witches eyes.

"You really like her don't you?" Lucky smirked as the pink haired witch's face turned a bright pink.

"Yea.. And I hate it took so long to realize..." Bristle sighed, she didn't take her eyes off Hope's face.

"How'd you realize?" Lucky ear twitched, somehow he was dragged into this mess... But honestly he didn't mind.

The witch was silent and let out a half hearted laugh, "A nightmare.... But I only realized that I loved her after this mess."

Lucky glanced back at Henry, who was now sitting on the couch making jokes with Renae. He turned back to Bristle, "I have to get home..."

Bristle nodded, "Be safe Lucky."

Lucky reluctantly nodded, "I will." He waved by the Bristle and didn't even bother saying anything to Henry. He left the room and walked through the hall.

Leaving the hospital he walked through town. His heart raced as he approached his house. He gulped and pulled the door open.

He silently prayed that his dad wasn't home. He slipped in and quietly shut the door. He headed towards the stairs and started up. Then there was a loud creak. His heart stopped and he held his breath.

"Lucky?" His mom popped around the corner. Lucky breathed a sigh of relief.

"Oh it's just you..." he walked down the stairs and gave her a hug. His mother gently stroke his hair.

"I got you're message last night." She said, she leaned down and gave him a kiss on the head. "You didn't get burned did you?"

Lucky shook his head, "No, the rain started after we entered his house." He glanced around nervously and looked back at his mother's blue eyes, "Where's dad?" There was an edge to his voice.

"At work thankfully, but he'll be home soon..." his mother sounded defeated.

"Why don't you leave him!" Lucky let out a sad whine.

"I would if we had somewhere to go." His mother leaned against the counter, "and even if we did, I don't have a job..."

"I could get a job!" Lucky felt desperate.

"That won't be enough to support us...." his mom turned away, "For now we just need to survive..."

Lucky felt a deep guilt down at the pit of his stomach, as much as he wanted to argue... He knew his mom was right.

The door slammed open, causing Lucky to jump. He flattened his ears hearing his dad's footsteps.

"Is dinner ready?" His father glared at his mother, dark bags under his eyes.

"Not yet. It just needs a few more minutes-" Lucky's mom let out a yelp as a plate crashed against the wall.

Lucky blinked at the broken shards of plate. "Dinner is suppose to be ready when I get home." Lucky turned back to his parents, his father loomed over his mother.

"Shane I'm sorry! I got started on dinner late." His mother whimpered cowering down to the larger man.

Anger flashed in the mans eyes. He lifted his hand preparing to swing.

"LEAVE HER ALONE!"

Lucky's father glare snapped over to Lucky. The confidence that was once there disappeared. "I- Dad I-" Before he could finish a sharp pain hit his cheek, he hit the ground hard and stared at his father in disbelief.

"How dare you back talk me!" His father yelled. Lucky blinked at him and placed his hand on his throbbing cheek. "Now clean up that plate!" His father lumbered off without another word.

Lucky sat there stunned for a moment. "Damnit." He growled. He stood up, tears forming in his eyes.

"Lucky you didn't have to do that." His mother walked over and placed her hand on his shoulder.

Lucky looked away, "I couldn't watch it..... I'd rather take the pain.."

"Lucky, I love you but you're so stupid sometimes." His mother gave his forehead a kiss.

Lucky shrugged, his cheek stung from the slap. He walked over to the broken plate and began picking it up piece by piece..
