Lucky's POV

It's been over two days since the Charles day. It had been over the weekend. It was pouring acid rain outside. Me and mom were able to cast a protection spell to keep it from damaging the house. It meant no school today, no seeing Henry, no nothing I couldn't do in the house... I envy Henry and Hope. They have eachother to keep eachother busy. Renae and Bristle have eachother... And Rosie I suppose has her sister.. I forget her name.

My scroll dinged. I reached over, grasping it in my hand. I stared at the text from Henry. I smiled and opened the text.

"Titan. I need a break from Hope.." It read. Then another text was sent, "she is bugging me about a hoodie she's missing."

I started to type out a text, "maybe Bristle has it?"

The three dots told me that he was replying. "No she doesn't. Hope already asked. Plus Renae confirmed that she doesn't have it." It said.

I went to type a reply but, "LUCKY!" I froze hearing my mom's voice. I put my scroll away and made my way down stairs.

"Yea?" I got down the stairs, I could Jessie was cooking. "Morning Jessie."

They turned around and smiled, "Morning Lucky." They turned back to cooking. I made my way over.

"Whatcha cooking?" I asked trying to see over their shoulder.

They nudged me away while chuckling, "food. Now go see what your mother wants."

I groaned, "fineeeee. It smells good though." Jessie nodded as I turned away.

Walking across the hall into the living room, Mom was sweeping. I made my way over, "You really have to clean? We aren't expecting anyone are we?" I then realized how dumb it sounded, "of course we're not.. it's raining." I groaned.

Mom shook her head, "No, I'm just cleaning up." She sighed and placed the broom down.

"Anyways you called me. Did you need something?" I asked, stuffing my hands in my pocket.

She nodded, "Yes. We're eating together then going to play Hexes Hold'em." She said gently clapping her hands.

I blinked at her, "but.. You don't even know how to play that.."

She let out a half heartily chuckle... "I know.." she perked back up, "But I'm going to learn how and beat Your butt!" She laughed.

A smile crept on my face. I gave her a light shove, "In your dreams! You couldn't even beat a Griffin!" I snorted playfully.

She crossed her arms, her green eyes twinkling, "wanna bet?"

I stuck my tongue out, "Yea! I do!"

Jessie walked over and shook their head, "alright. Before you go giving your money away to your son-"

Mom was quiet to cut them off, "you dare doubt my skills in Hexes Hold'em!" She said with a dramatic scoff.

"What skills?" Jessie laughed, "you're going to lose!" They chuckled.

Mom groaned. "Fine then. I won't play if I'll just lose."

Jessie chuckled and gave my mom a quick kiss on the cheek. "Anyways. Breakfast is ready." They said grabbing my mom's hand.

"Thank you for cooking, love." Mom said gripping Jessie's hand.

Jessie nodded, "Of course."

After we ate, we sat at the table. We decided that me and Jessie would face eachother first to show mom how to play. I easily beat them.

"And that's on a pro player." I laughed

Jessie smiled and rolled his eyes, "just like your mother."

I chuckled and turned to mom, "You ready?"

She nodded enthusiastically. I got out of my seat. Mom sat down. To keep the game fair I passed the cards.

Mom stared at her cards confusingly as Jessie played their card. Mom blinked at their card before playing a card herself. Jessie's card easily beat Mom's. Jessie laughed, "you really aren't good at this are you?"

Mom stuck her tongue out, "man, why am I even dating you!" She snapped.

A small giggle escaped me. Jessie played another card, and Mom followed. The game went on for a few more minutes. Jessie played their last card a smug look on their face. Mom tapped her chin before playing her last card. Me and Jessie went silent..

"You beat me!" They gasped, "how!"

"Well I got a pro player son. He had to get it from somewhere." She said holding out a fist bump.

I raised my eyebrow, "yea. I got it from myself. You just got lucky."

Mom glared at me but her glare softened. "Yea. I do have you."

I blinked at her and groaned, "Mom seriously!"

Jessie nodded, "Babe that was terrible."

"Oh come on you two can tell jokes but I can't!"

"You're suppose to keep us from getting out of control!" Jessie argued.

It was quiet for a few moments before we started laughing... Maybe being stuck inside with Mom and Jessie wasn't so bad..
