Chapter 16

Haylee could hear Dr. wool say that they had found a match for Haylee's lungs and that they needed to have to get Haylee into surgery as soon as possible. Haylee was still very weak but she tried her best to say goodbye to Noah before she went into surgery. All she could do was open her eyes and make eye contact with Noah, hopefully he read her eyes. As soon as Haylee passed Noah going out of her room her eyes felt heavy and went unconscious once again. Haylee drifted to sleep to find herself dreaming, she was at the house in her swimming suit in the back yard. Haylee could feel the sun on her face, she looked at the pool to see Abby and Noah splashing each other. "Finally you're awake, no get in here before I drag you by the hair.", Abby said with a smile on her face. Haylee quickly jumped up and ran into the pool. Noah quickly grabbed onto Haylee and kissed her. Haylee got butterflies and blushed. "Noah! You can't just kiss her!", Haylee opened her eyes to see Abby and Noah by her side. "Haylee, thank goodness you're okay, they said that the transplant went smoothly.", Noah said turning away from Abby and looking at Haylee. "They said you could come home in a few weeks after you get some therapy in and to make sure your body doesn't reject the lungs.", Abby said with a smile on her face. "I'm surviving.", Haylee said slowly smiling. Haylee remembered her dream and Abby's sentence, it didn't make sense to her, but then again dreams aren't the most normal thing on the planet. "Yeah you are.", Noah said grabbing Haylee's hand. "Are you going to be offended if I go home for tonight? I haven't been getting any sleep.", Noah said already knowing Haylee's answer. "Yea of course! I miss my Abby time anyway.", Haylee said as she slowly sat up. Noah grabbed his overnight bag and said goodbye to Haylee and Abby, and left to go home.

"I'm really glad you are pulling through, I don't know if I could handle him without you.", Abby said as she rolled her eyes. "You want to hear a secret?", Haylee said knowing she was going to regret telling Abby. "Haylee, of course I do!", Abby said sitting in the chair right next to Haylee's bed. "I-I think that I'm in love with Noah, you know that I have liked him for awhile, but now I think I'm in love with him which is crazy because he only sees me as his best friend and nothing else.", As Haylee said those words she knew she was going to get "the look" every time he walks in the room. "Seriously? There is no way, I thought I could tell something was up with you two.", Abby said on the edge of her seat. Abby's sentence made Haylee over think. "Did Noah tell you something about it?", Haylee asked. "No", Abby said with her lying face. "Abby tell me, what did he say?", Haylee demanded. "I can't tell you that's his thing!", Abby said with a worried face. "I say you shoot your shot, I personally thinks that he likes you too.", Abby said refusing to make eye contact. "It's not possible Abby, there is no way that he likes me, and there is no way that he loves me!", Haylee said still looking at Abby. "Haylee, do you think he would drive all the way to Montana to help you pack for two days and then drive all the way back, and caring for you and make sure you stay alive? He has been by your side almost every single day that you have been in the hospital, he helped you with your fits, and coming from a person that hasn't even helped with one, it's scary to watch your best friend to die.", Abby told Haylee as she finally made eye contact. Abby did have some good points, but Haylee wanted to avoid a loss of a friendship. Haylee stayed quiet and broke eye contact with Abby. "I'm just saying, maybe it's a good idea to bring it up.", Abby suggested. Did Noah really like her, or was Abby just jumping to conclusions?
