CHOOSE {JJ/Rafe}

18. 𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬

Kayla's POV

Rafe calmed me down and it felt good to be in his arms again, but calming me down only reminded me of how much JJ could be suffering and I didnt want to even picture that.

"thank you" I whispered. He looked at my face and wiped the tears off my eyes. "Anytime kay" he smiled.

"I have to go now" i said walking away from there as fast as I could. I was sort of with JJ now and staying with Rafe only scared me because I was so afraid my feelings for him would stop me from being with JJ. "Let me come with you" rafe said. "No I'm okay rafe"

"Kay you're clearly not fine. Let me drop you anywhere you want to go. Okay?" He said moving my hair out of my face. "Okay" I sighed.

He took out his bike and I climbed onto it wrapping my hands around him tightly. "Hold tight" he said.
I learned my head on his back with my hands wrapped around his torso and I felt so safe.

I didn't tell him where we were going but as soon as I knew the sheriff department was a walk away I told him to stop. "Thank you Rafe" I said getting off. "Kay wether you want to believe it or not. I'm gonna be there for you if you need anything"

I nodded "I love you so much for it rafie" I said not really realizing what came out of my mouth but i shook it off and ran to the sheriffs department to check whether JJ was still there and sadly I was an hour late. His father had just picked him up and I have seen what his father is capable of.

I made an impulse decision of going to his house. When I reached there I snuck behind near the window and I could hear his father yell at him in filth. JJ pacing up and down with bruises on his face.

"I'm going to tell you right now you're a worthless piece of shit!" His father yelled.

"Shut up!" JJ yelled back and I could hear how helpless and angry he was from his voice. "Your mama knew" his father continued.

I tapped the window and he saw me standing there and his expressions changed he was scared. "Kayla what are you doing here if he sees you, he will hurt you" he said opening his window.

"what makes you think I care" I replied jumping into his room and looking into his eyes. His face full of Mark's, dried blood and tears spilling over them dried over the wounds I held his cheek and he winced.

"You don't have to go through his alone" I whispered hugging him tight and he winced for a second slowly hugging me back completely breaking and crying. "I cant deal with him Kayla" his voice breaking against my hair.

"Get your ass in here" Luke yelled again but we ignored him.

After about another hour of his yelling the two of us sitting in the corner of the room as I was trying to find something to aid his wounds.

JJ stood and went toward his sleeping father with a gun in his hands. I slowly walked behind him. I saw the pain in his eyes, the feeling that if he just clicked the gun it would be over.

"don't do it JJ" I told him touching the back of his shoulder. He shrugged it off and looked at his father who was sleeping. "I will help you get through this, killing is not the answer" I told him. "Help me? You can't help me. No one can don't you get that?" He yelled at me, his anger taking over. I was scared but I knew he wouldn't hurt me.

"Why are you even here, your just such a fucking pain in the ass would you just leave" he said again hurting me. I felt a stab in my heart. "Get out you annoying shit" he yelled.
