The alarm sliced through the curtains of sleep and woke me up. I could feel a hand on my waist, another on my shoulder.
My eyes fluttered open and I saw Amber's lazy smile as she slowly pushed herself up. A sudden jolt of yesterday's memories passed through me and I put my hand over her mouth just as her eyes widened.
She frantically pointed at the girl who was clinging onto my waist.
"I'll explain. Don't shout." I whispered to Amber as Luna stirred in her sleep.
I turned off the alarm, got out of bed and tried to hold down my laughter as Amber stared at the red sequins shining in the sunlight slipping through the curtains.
Luna rolled over to her left and slipped back into deep sleep.
"What's happening?" Amber mouthed at me, her hair falling over her eyes.
I grabbed her hand and led her to a corner. "So, hmm ... we went to a party last night and she got drunk so I couldn't take her to her place, so I sneaked her in." I explained quickly.
"Party? Drunk? What?" She looked at me in disbelief. "How are you going to sneak her out?" She asked after shaking off her thoughts.
"Mom and dad leave for the early morning mass at six thirty, I'll just take her home then. We just have to hide her for half an hour." I patted her shoulders.
"You went to a party with alcohol?" She whispered when we went to bathroom to brush our teeth.
"Well, no. She technically got some from people who snuck it in." I said with a goofy grin.
"I can't read your mind this early in the morning, you have to tell me more." She elbowed me.
"Right. I am going to have revoke your read my mind anytime licence." I elbowed her back.
"What? Why?" She looked disappointed.
"Uhmm. I just have to sort some things out with myself. Nothing serious, just something personal." I muttered.
"Oh." She looked down. "I get it but it's going to be hard. I have gotten used to being able to read your mind freely." She looked at me with her famous puppy eyes.
"Puppy eyes aren't going to work for this particular matter." I let her know.
"Can I at least see yesterday's party?" She drew closer.
"No. Definitely not yesterday's party." I didn't want her to think I liked Luna again.
"Come on! Please!" She poked my arm with her index finger. "Please!"
"No." I said firmly and walked out after washing my face again.
Unlocking my room's door, I spied at my mother from behind it. I had to wait for fifteen minutes more. I locked the door once more and sat down next to Luna.
I searched through the brown paper bag on the floor to make sure all our things were in it. Taking out my clothes, I dumped them in the laundry bin.
"It's weird seeing her like this." Amber commented when she joined me.
"It is?" I asked while brushing away Amber's stray hair.
"Party clothes on your school's principal's daughter while she is lying in your bed drunk? I'd consider that weird." She laughed and put her head on my shoulder. "I finished all the homework yesterday so that we could go to meet Taemin together." A yawn escaped her lips.
"I'll complete it after getting her back." I sighed. "We should probably wake her up." I jerked her by the arm. "Luna?"
She groaned as she opened her eyes, I put my hand over her mouth. "I feel like a kidnapper." I joked, she eyes when wide. Amber joined my laughter while Luna remembered where she was.
"Happy birthday sleepy head!" I greeted her, getting up from bed. "The bathroom's there, my parents will be gone in about ten minutes, I'll take you back then." I informed her.
"Happy birthday!" Amber said in a cheerful voice.
"Thank you!" She smiled as she got up. "I'll go home alone. But thanks for the offer." She pushed back her hair and tugged down her dress.
Soon we were downstairs in the empty house, bidding farewell to the birthday girl.
"Take care!" We said in unison. She waved back while walking back in her sweats, her party wear hidden away in the paper bag.
"Do you want to go to the mall today?" I asked when we walked to the kitchen for an early breakfast.
"Who are you and what have you done to Y/N?" She asked with a smile. "But yeah, I like this new adventurous attitude." She shimmied against my shoulder.
"We can ask Taemin to come with us." I added. "I'll check the bus schedule. There should be a bus around eleven o'clock."
"Then we should call Taemin right now. Or he will never be ready on time." She pointed out.
"Of course. I'll call him right now ." I headed to the stairs.
"Y/N, what's our excuse for your parents?" Her mischievous smirk appeared.
Hugs and kisses from Cheonsa.
