"All your lipstick is gone." I told him. The bed was drowning in plushies, pillows and feather boas while we played with them.

"You have still got enough on your lips." He said, placing his hand on my cheek. With a quick movement, he kissed me and smiled against my lips.

I stared at him, eyes wide when he pulled away. The silent was strangely comfortable still. He pulled a bright red boa up and put it around me, tucking me towards him.

Throwing out my thoughts, I kissed him and pulled him by his tee shirt. He put his hand behind my head and played in. Everything was black, blank, empty. An abyss of nothing. I felt strangely distant from this moment.

We pulled away, gasping for air. His red face was hidden away, tilted down. His confidence was substituted with an unfamiliar shyness. There was a nuance to this scene.

"My mom is starting day shifts again tomorrow so if you come by, we will be all alone." His voice was distorted as he tried to maintain a straight face.

Did I do it the wrong way? I crawled closer to him while his doll like eyes followed me. I kissed him again. This time his hand snaked around my waist but everything still dissolved to nothing. Why?

I stopped and observed him. Dilated pupils, red cheeks, lips perked up. That's what should happen to me. What he felt. The boa slipped off me and I let my head fall next to his on the pillow.

Hand on my head, he leaned his head towards mine. I drew patterns on his exposed neck, making him close his eyes.

My thoughts poured over me, drowning me as I closed my eyes. "What time is it?"

"Uhh ... three." He whispered.

"I should get going." I replied and abruptly ended the moment.

"Okay ... I'll email you the rewrite. Will you be able to come tomorrow?" He asked and sprinted up to me.

"Obviously." I placed a kiss on his cheek while I opened the door. He walked me till the door and I waved at him as I started walking towards my house.

Halfway back, I paused. I shouldn't go there right now. My eyes glanced back and I forced my feet forward. I shouldn't go there. I faced forward and walked on, slowing accelerating to a jog.

I rang the bell at the door and Amber let me in. "Nice lipstick." She slammed her hand on my back and led me up.

"What did you do the whole day?" I enquired through the door of the bathroom while changing.

"Just this and that. It gets really boring without you." She said.

I scoffed. "You mean alone." I refuted.

"No. I meant without you." She smirked when I emerged from the bathroom.

I playfully pushed her. "Are you hitting on me?" I flipped my hair and placed one hand on the door frame, one on my hip and lifted a leg.

"Sure." She laughed and poked my cheeks.

Her response shut me up. My smile faltered. I regained my posture and put her tee on her shoulder. "Thanks for the top!"

"Anytime, babygirl." She pointed finger guns at me.

"Stop it!" I pushed her towards the bed. She exploded into an infectious laugh.

I sat down at my laptop and started proofreading the rewrite, making sure the screen was away from her while she played games on her phone.

I emailed the final draft and sighed. I opened the next project in line and started editing it.

"What are you always doing on your laptop? You look so serious." She smiled and fell onto the bed.

"It's just a project! I told you. My parents should be home soon." I deflected, gesturing towards the clock.

"The text books, notebooks and other things are being sold at school the day after tomorrow." She announced as she read the message on her phone. "We can go together!"

"It's pretty late this year. Carrying them back is going to be a chore." I kicked my feet while pouting. "We can also check out the student clubs while we are there. They usually have kiosks."

"Cool. I never asked you which club you were in ..." She asked.

"Voll-" I corrected myself, "Writing club."

"Why did you quit the volleyball club?" She asked while giving me a sly glance.

"Just wanted to try something new. It was getting boring." I lied.

"I can tell when you're lying, you know. But it's okay..." She said. "People are quick to hate, aren't they?"

My eyes jolted up. My silence made her crack out a grin.

"Sorry. I won't pry." She spoke. "You can always deny their accusations and live on. It's not the best solution in the long run but at least you wouldn't have to give up something you clearly love so much."

"How do you know about what happened? Did you talk to someone at school?" I walked to her in a slow pace.

"No. Just guessing here. If you want someone to talk to, I'll lend you a ear. You don't have to punish yourself so much." She stepped up to me and ran her hand over my hair. "I'd love to watch a movie with you tomorrow if you'll be home."

Okay I feel like it's a good time to put this disclaimer. This is a story. Fiction. So please don't take the characters' action too seriously out of the story's context.

These are just characters in a story not the real people.

That said, thank you so much for reading!

Hugs and kisses from Cheonsa.
