Rebecca agreed to go on an official date with Colby, so he left her to get ready for the night while he went to drop Knox off with Ashley in her hotel room a few floors down from their room.

"Look at you" Ashley smiled as she noted Colby's black on black ensemble "It's almost like you planned this" she smiled

"Maybe I did" he shrugged "I really hope you convinced her to bring a nice dress this weekend"

"She packed her dress, I made sure before we left" she nodded

He placed Knox down and he ran into the room towards Manny who was sitting on the bed.

"Take care of my kid" Colby said to the blonde who shrugged him off

"I will, he'll be fine..you take care of my best friend" she nodded "Good luck" she said as she closed her door

Colby went back to the room and knocked on the door, fully expecting Rebecca to be in the shower but much to his surprise she wasn't and she answered the door quickly. His eyes almost fell out of his head as he admired her, the black mini dress clung to her in all the right places and the heels made her toned legs look even better than they ever were.

"Fuck" he said and her eyes widened

"Hi to you too" she nodded with a laugh and she watched his eyes roam over her body once more and she cleared his throat

"Oh! These are for you" he handed her the bouquet of roses to her and she smiled as she took them

"Where, why and how?" She asked and he laughed

"The florist down the street, they were delivered an hour ago and you've never been on a date with me before, this is standard when you date me" he said and she nodded

"I could get used to this" she nodded as she moved into the hotel room

He watched her place the roses on the coffee table before moving to grab her clutch from the dresser before looking at him once more with a laugh

"What?" He asked as he grabbed the keys to the rental car

"Are we really doing this?" She asked

"I think we are" he nodded "We'll see how you feel about it after tonight"

"You better be on your best behavior Lopez"

"This may very well be my only shot at this.. trust me I'm not going to blow it" he shook his head

The drive to the restaurant was filled with small talk, it felt like a real first date and it was but it also felt weird because they already had a kid together, they skipped this step.

After getting to the restaurant, checking in at the front with the hostess and being sat, they ordered their food and it arrived within 20 minutes, which was filled with more small talk. So far everything about this was going perfectly.

After eating they walked around downtown after grabbing coffee from a local coffee shop. They admired the Christmas lights that were still up around the town before making their way back to the hotel.

"Were you nervous tonight?" Rebecca spoke up and Colby looked over at her with a small smile as they waited in the elevator to get to their floor

"No" he shook his head "Why would I be nervous?"

"So I was the only one nervous" she nodded as they stepped off the elevator "I don't know, it's just weird.. we've never done this"

"That's usually what a first date is" Colby nodded "People usually have never been on a first date with someone before" he said and she glared at him

"I'm serious" she nodded and he grabbed her hand gently in his as they walked down the hallway and she looked at their intertwined fingers and then back to him

"I'm not nervous" he shook his head "You wanna know why?" He asked and she nodded "I'm not nervous because you and I have had this date with one another for a very long time now.. I'm going to tell you something that is going to either freak you out or surprise you"

"Uh oh" she said concerned, what was he about to tell her? What bombshell was he about to drop

They unlocked the hotel room door with the keycard before quickly walking in together and locking the deadbolt. Rebecca shrugged her jacket off and kicked her heels to the corner before looking at Colby who was taking his own jacket off.

"That night.." He spoke up once more and she looked at him expectantly as he moved to sit on the edge of the bed next to her "Halloween night when we got together" he continued and she nodded "I asked you back then if you were in a relationship or not, and you said it was complicated.. you said you were working on it"

"I remember" She nodded

"Do you remember how I had my arm around you and when you said you were working on fixing the relationship I quickly removed my arm and let you go?"

"I do" she nodded "but I also remember us taking more shots than we should have and ending up in a supply closet"

"My point is" he shook his head with a laugh to try and get back on point "I was fully willing to let you go because I wanted you to be happy even if that meant that I wouldn't be" He shrugged "After you and Luke broke up officially, I made the mistake of not tell you how I really felt, and then you started seeing a few people on and off and I started seeing Sarah to numb the pain I was actually in from not telling you my feelings.. that was a mistake. For years I never told you any of this because I didn't want to make anything weird between us because I didn't want it to hurt Knox"

"It never would have" she shook her head "I would have much rather you tell me the truth from the beginning" she said and he nodded

"It was a mistake.. one more to add to the list" he nodded with a shrug

"What is the point of this story?" She asked quickly and he stared at her silently before taking a deep breath and shaking his head before he grabbed her face in his hands quickly and his lips met hers, he held her there for a moment before pulling away to look her in the eyes

"I've made the mistake of letting you go before" he nodded "I'm not making that mistake again" he shook his head and much to his surprise she gently pulled him back to her and their lips met once more "Does this mean you're going to go on a second date with me?" He asked as he pulled away slightly

"I think you've got a pretty good chance" she nodded in a whisper as her forehead rested against his and he smiled before capturing her lips once more
