DEMI
When I reach back home, I see my parents watching TV. Actually let me make it staring at the TV. It doesn't seem like they are processing anything. They just seem lost in their thoughts.
"Hey", I say.
They don't reply. It is like living with two mannequins. My parents don't smile, they don't talk properly. And the only conversation I have with them is the 'hi' and 'bye'. Sometimes they don't even care to reply to that.
"Have you guys eaten"?, I ask.
" No. We just didn't feel like.... ", my mother replies.
She didn't even complete the sentence, I think.
"You have to eat. I don't even think you guys ate in the morning", I say.
"We are fine"
I sigh in exasperation.
"Mum and Dad, I know what you are going through better than anyone. I also know that we just have each other. So we might as well support each other", I say.
I don't even think that they hear what I said. I start to lose my temper.
I slam my palm on the table before speaking. My parents flinch at the noise.
"Just look at me. Its been four months since you have been walking around like a pair of zombies. Do you guys even think of me? ", I say raising my voice.
" Lower your voice. It's hurting my head", my dad's voice sounds so tired.
"Your head hurts? Wow! You guys are so selfish. Ever wondered how the daughter of yours who is surprisingly still alive is coping with everything?"
"I'm your responsibility. If you guys don't want to live for yourself, then live for me. I'm still alive. Go to a fucking counselor and get yourself fixed", I shout.
Says the girl who is so broken that she'll slit her wrist the first chance she gets, I think.
" Watch your language ", my dad says again.
" I don't care anymore. And you know what? Just forget it. I don't even think it's of any use talking to you guys. Because if you had ever cared for me, you would never have left me alone when I needed you the most", my voice starts to break.
I stomp upstairs without giving them another look.
"Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry", I tell myself.
But tears don't obey your words. They just fall and there is no way you can stop it.
Fuck gravity, I think.
I wipe them off, wash my face and drink some water. Today has been one heck of a day.
I unlock my phone. There are more notifications and more messages about the locker incident.
"Don't read them, just don't open the messages", I chant like a mantra.
But hey, will the world ever give up on a chance to inflict on Demi? No.
So as I'm swiping through the phone, my fingers accidentally touch on one of the notifications.
