Chapter 30

HAYDON

Demi eats like a picky bird. Her bites are small and seeing her eat, I felt like Shrek.

"Demi, eat ", I gesture towards the food.

"I am eating"?, she rolls her eyes.

"Come on, Demi. You know what I mean"

"Whatever"

The both of us stare at the food and eat in awkward silence before I break it.

"Are you feeling better? Are you dizzy or something?"

"No and no"

"Are you answering in monosyllables because you are not actually well?"

"No"

"Did you sleep well yesterday? You should have more liquid, maybe I should give you ORS"

"What are you, my parent or sibling or something?"

I've to physically keep myself from flinching at that moment.

"Wh-what"?, I ask

"Haydon, you've been around for long enough to know that I don't sleep well at night or comb my hair or shower daily or function like a normal person. Can you for once stop being dumb"?

"Fair enough", i say shrugging my shoulders.

"Now if you are done interrogating me, can we leave"?

"But you barely ate anything", i complain.

"I've eaten what i usually eat in a week. Trust me, my body survives on way less food"

"Doesn't mean it is good now, does it"

"Can you just shut up please? I'm saying it politely "

I nod my head before getting up and holding my hand out to her. I can feel the warmth of her palm pressed against mine even through the material of the gloves we are wearing.

Lacing my fingers through hers, I pull her closer. My heart's in my mouth and perhaps the possibility of her punching me is looming  over my head as I see her eyes widen.

"Trust me Demi, I'm the farthest one can get from being your sibling"

Blake is so in love that it is somehow so comical. He gets this weird dreamy look whenever someone talks about Vivian and then he blushes so hard even at the sight of her.

It's rather cute.

I see them hug each other tightly and I see their hesitation to let go. The cuteness alarm in my head has been set off and it goes "I want this, I want this, I want this".

I let out a sigh before turning and walking in the opposite direction. I didn't want to see this today.

But I hear my name being called and Blake is walking towards me.

"You look very cute together", I say.

Blake grins wide before thanking me. We talk as we walk out of school.

"Where did you disappear during Biology"?, he asks

I almost tell him that it was nothing but something stops me. I trusted Blake and for once I wanted to talk about Demi to someone other than Laura.

"Georgina's sister Demi, she had an emergency. I had to go", I say.

"Like medical emergency"?
