HAYDON

"Haydon, I need your help"

"Sure. What can I do for you", I ask

"I need your help to vandalize your school", she says.

" What? ", I say shocked.

I'm sure that I heard it wrong.

"Yeah, you heard me right. I need your help to vandalize your school"

I start to freak out. I mean what is she thinking?

"What are you saying? Oh my god! Do you even know how serious it is? You will get into serious trouble"

"Not if they don't find who did it", she sounds careless.

" Demi, vandalism is a crime ", I say.

"Oh really? That's new information", I can hear the sarcasm in her voice.

Why did I ever get involved with this girl?

" I mean.. ", I don't know what else to say.

" Just tell me if you are going to help me or not. That's all I want to know. I don't need a lecture on how vandalism is bad", she says.

I don't even know how she is so bold. I'm saying no. I'm saying no.

But how do I say no when I know that she is counting on me?

"I don't know Demi. This could get me into big trouble. This is my last year at school. I'd be putting my future at stake", I say.

I clearly hear her snort.

"Haydon "

"What"

"Don't be such a wuss"

"Oh please," I say, feeling very annoyed.

I can't believe that this girl is pissing me off when I am seriously considering helping her.

I curse lightly and the last thing I hear before I cut the call is her laughter.

I bet she looks beautiful when she laughs, I think.

Realizing how inappropriate that thought is, I quickly shake it off. I have a more serious issue at hand.

My finger hovers above the call button as I am contemplating my options.

I could say no, I think.

Well, I am going to say no.

It's gonna be easy. I mean it's just two letters N-O

"Hey Demi, I'm sorry but no. I'm not interested in wrecking my future", I practice.

But as I am about to tap on the call button, I know that I cannot do it.

I cannot say no because I owe it to Georgina. This is the least I could do.

Feeling defeated, I tap on the call button.

"What's it", I hear her voice through the phone.

Though very faint, I can hear the expectation in her voice. She is counting on me.

"You know what? Screw it. I'll help you"

" Hey that's the spirit ", her voice sounds a little sarcastic.

That annoys me a lot.

"But I'm not a wuss. Not everyone's life is so bad that they want to gobble antidepressants or drugs. Some people want to have a good future", I say without thinking.
