She laid on her back as Daryl slept easily all night, keeping one arm around her stomach and the other under his pillow, his head against her shoulder, peacefully snoring as the night went on.
Theo spent the night staring at the ceiling.
The only thing on her mind was, what if she could have this baby?
She turned to her partner, moving the hair from his face before planting a kiss on his head, surprisingly not waking the man.
She gently removed herself from his grip, getting out of bed and grabbing a pair of shorts to place under her shirt,
She turned to see Daryl still in the same place, she smiled to herself before leaving the room.
She took the cigarettes that sat on the side and the lighter before heading outside.
"One last smoke" She said to herself sitting on the porch and lighting one in her mouth.
"Something keeping you up?" The familiar voice of Carol spoke up in front of her. "Why are you still up, it's late" Carol asked, taking on her weird mother mode that came out too Theo sometimes.
"Too much on my mind" Theo admitted with a sad smile, lighting up the stick of tobacco that sat between her lips.
"Like?" Carol asked, taking a seat besides her, Theo offering her a cigarette which she gladly took.
"What if i can't give Daryl a kid?" Theo asked, looking at Carol shyly.
"Well, you have to give it time first" Carol had no idea what was going on, but she wanted to judge, neither get too involved. "You should probably stop smoking if you want to give a baby a healthy body" She remarked
"What's your deal? Your smoking too, plus I am not pregnant" She pointed out.
"Stress" Carol admitted
"Well then you cant talk, we are all stressed, why do you think i have smoked since i was 13" Theo rolled her eyes
"Because you had a shit childhood? Get over yourself, we've all had shit lives Theo" Carol snapped
"You wanna talk about shit lives Carol, it's not some sort of competition." Theo began to get angry.
"I'm not trying to start an argument Theo" Carl sighed, rubbing her head with her free hand.
"Then what the hell?" Theo stood up.
All she waned was someone to talk to, not to be judge or be put down.
"You've got everything Theo, i lost everything, be grateful" Carol stood, matching her tone.
"I'm sorry you lost everything Carol, i really am, but i had to lose everything to get everything i have now." Theo shook her head.
"You have your dad, your brother your sister, something you always had, and now you have Daryl" Carol rolled her eyes
"What was that?" Theo asked, pointing at her face
"What?"
"That eye roll... is this about Daryl?" Theo asked
"No" Carol turned around
"You say i always had my family, i didn't, believe it or not Carol, i didn't, and if this is about Daryl, you need to tell me" Theo began following Carol.
"It's not," Carol continued to walk.
"Are you jealous?" Theo asked
"No."
"Turn around!" Theo yelled
"Fine, yes it's about Daryl!" Carol whispered
"Just because i am married to him doesn't change anything about your friendship" Theo admitted
"Oh please" Carol rolled her eyes.
"You're his best friend, I know that, like Daryl, he knows Glenn is mine, so what's the damn problem Carol?" Theo walked closer.
"He's been through enough in his life to have your problems as well as his own" Carol argued
It took Theo back, was that true?
"What do you mean?" Theo asked, calming her voice.
"When he found out about you and Shane, he did everything for you, and you never even appreciated it" Carol began to get emotional.
"I never appreciated it!? Carol, I hope you're fucking with me" Theo began to get upset, did he feel like that?
"And then what do you do? You get drunk when things get too much, forgetting that his father was an alcoholic, you have no respect" Carol threw her arms up in the air.
"I'm not an alcoholic, i've never been that bad" Theo cried
"No, what about you passing out outside of these walls, sending him and Glenn on a wild chase to find you?" Carol asked
"How'd you know about that?" Theo asked embarrassed
"Believe it not, you're not the only person Daryl talks to" Carol sighed "You give him a baby, and you don't do your part, you will ruin his life even more" Carol guiltily answered.
Her reasoning behind her sudden outburst, she was worried that it would be too much for her, and she wouldn't be able to look after herself.
"Even more?" Theo choked
"You heard me, do me a favour, don't have a baby" Carol snapped walking away leaving Theo in the middle of the street alone.
