Chapter 5

Declan

As soon as I finished speaking her phone rang. She looked at the name, groaned and hung up. "My brother told me that I ruined his life," she said bluntly.

Which I didn't expect at all. Her phone rang again. She just looked pissed this time. She answered the call and said "I'm going to school now and yes I did" then she hung up. "Can we walk faster?" she asked anxiously. "Sure".

***

"Hey, I'm getting tired. Is the offer for that piggy back ride still valid?" she asks. I nod and stop walking so she can climb on me.

We are about a minute or two from school and I realize she is still on my back. We haven't really talked much but the silence is comfortable. I know that people will see us together but I don't really care.

"Giant, can you put me down now?" She seemed embarrassed. I knew she was embarrassed. I don't care.

"Nope, where is your locker?" I asked her. "Put me down, you are embarrassing me," she said, digging her head into the crook of my neck.

I love when she does that.

What the hell am I saying?

"If you don't tell me where your locker is, I'm gonna ask." I smirked. She didn't answer. "Does anyone know-" I started to yell in the hallway but she cut me off. "Okay i'll tell you , it's B145," she said. I started walking towards her locker. "What books do you need?" I asked. She sighed. "English, History, and Biology."

Wait, I have all of those classes next. How have I not noticed her before?

When we finally got to her locker asked "What's the combination?" "I am not telling you that it's private information," she huffed. Why is she still arguing with me? "Does anyone know Madi Gr-" once again I got cut off but her. "62634" she sighs again. "Thanks bug".

I grabbed her books and headed to our first class. English. I got to the classroom and she spoke again,"Ok put me down now". "Nope" I popped the 'p'. "Where are we sitting today?" I asked, finding joy in her embarrassment. "Please". "No," I said, raising my voice just a little. I knew I messed up when I felt wetness on the back of my neck. Which meant she was crying. Because of me.

Mani

"I'm sorry little bug I didn't mean to yell at you," he said in the softest voice ever.

Why is he so damn persistent? He is stubborn just like Christol.

I don't feel like talking to him because that was way too embarrassing. I don't even know why I cried because of that. Ugh. I'm so annoying.

He walked to the back of the classroom and let me down in front of a desk. Out of common sense I sat in it. He sat in the desk next to me. "Hey I'm sorry bug," he said, sounding genuinely sorry. "Declan it's okay i'm just too sensitive, okay, it's fine" I said trying to get him to stop apologizing. "No I shouldn't have yelled at you, I should have just listened to you". Now he was just getting on my nerves. "I said it's fine" I sat back in the desk crossing my arms. He didn't say anything else after that. Good.

I hated attention. Declan came with a lot of attention. He is beautiful and he catches everyone's attention when he enters a room. All the glares and stares I got from just sitting next to him. Gross.

I know why he seemed familiar earlier and it's because he's in my English class.

Everyone knows Declan but he doesn't know them back.

I need to talk to Harlow and I need to get away from him. Just as that thought entered my mind the giant himself slipped me a note. "I want you to meet someone after school", oh no he wants me to meet his friends now. God help me.
