Epilogue

It's been 5 years since Aaron and I started dating. Time flies when you're happy and in love.

We mutually decided to tell Strauss on our one year anniversary, but it didn't go as expected.

I specifically remember her saying, "Aaron, I don't know if I'm surprised or not. I didn't expect this from you, but at the same time I wouldn't put it past you."

Yeah, he was mad.

Luckily, Strauss didn't fire either of us, she just moved me to Special Victims and Aaron stayed unit chief.

I walk in to me and Aaron's house. (Yes, we live together and it's amazing.)

I open the door to find Jack doing his schoolwork and watching TV.

"Jack, you know the rules!" I say rushing upstairs.

"Can I finish this episode?" He shouts back.

I stop on the stairway to answer him, "Yeah, but your schoolwork better be done before your dad gets home!"

Jack is so cute, honestly. He's the best kid anyone could ask for.

I take a shower like I do everyday when I get home when I hear loads of shuffling downstairs.

I wrap my towel around my body, and open the door to hollar downstairs, "Jack, everything okay?"

"Yeah, I'm good!" He pauses, "Dad called."

"What did he say?" I ask.

"He said he his flight was delayed so he can't come home tonight," Jack hollars back.

"Oh okay," I respond back sadly.

I go back to my shower, thinking about Aaron when I hear something fall.

I curse under my breath, throwing on my baggy tee and underwear, leaving mt bottom half undressed.

"Jack, you okay!?" I rush downstairs.

I get down there to see Jack on his stomach.

"Jack?" I ask.

"Yeah?" He asks cheerfully like nothing happened.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"Yeah. You didn't get the shampoo out of your hair," Jack laughs and I roll my eyes, going back upstairs to finish my shower.

Once I finish I put on my clothes and I go downstairs to find Jack gone. I don't worry much, we do this all the time.

"Jack! Did you finish your work?" I ask.

Silence.

"Looks like you're going to get a visit from the tickle monster if you don't come out Jack!" I smile.

I began to find awkward lumps in the couch and around the downstairs when I open the kitchen cupboard.

"I got you!" I say and reach my hands out to tickle Jack.

He giggles and I tickle him when I noticed his shirt has changed.

"That shirt's new," I say stepping back to get him out of the cupboard.

"Read it!" Jack says, excited and out of breath.

"Turn around. In all reality that's kind of creepy Jack," I laugh and stand up and turn around.

Stop in my tracks.

"Aaron?" I ask looking at my boyfriend.

"Surprise," he smiles and I hug him tight.

"This is the best surprise ever," I smile, tears brimming my eyes, "I haven't seen you in so long."

"I know, Y/N. I didn't realize the case would last two weeks. I'm back until the end of this month," Aaron says.

I step back and wipe my eyes when I see Aaron get on one knee.

The tears flood back and I start balling almost immediately.

"Y/N, I've loved you for five years leading up to this moment. I want to make it officially forever. You bring me out of my shell and I love you are with Jack. Will you become a big part of both of our lives and marry me?" Aaron asks, beaming.

I nod and continue to cry like in idiot.

"Yes, Aaron. A thousand times yes!" I say and he slides the ring onto my left hand.

He stands up and throw him into a big hug and wrap my legs around his waist.

"I love you so much," I whisper to hin, trying not to cry more.

"I love you more," Aaron says back.

I let go of him when I see him go to the back door next to the fridge.

"She said yes!" Aaron smiles and I hear cheers.

I rush to the back door to see who he's talking to and I find the team there.

"Oh my- Aaron!" I say, to excited to form actual words.

I hug everybody individually.

Penelope hugs me first, surprise surprise, and wraps me tightly.

"I'm so happy this day came, I've been waiting for him to ask you for forever!" Penelope smiles excitedly and I laugh.

"I'm glad he did," I smile looking at Aaron.

"Congratulations!" J.J. says getting my attention.

"Are you excited to be married?" Rossi asked.

"I'm really excited," I smile.

"It's great being married, I would know," Rossi laughs and I laugh with him.

"Congrats, Y/L/N," Derek says.

"Thank you," I smile.

"Let me see the ring!" Emily says after hugging me and I show off the rock on my hand.

"Oh wow, that's huge," Jack says pulling my hand to his level.

Everyone laughs and the last person I haven't talked to. My best friend. Spencer.

He hugs me tight and I hug him back.

"Congratulations, Y/N. I'm so happy for you," Spencer says and I hug him tighter.

"Thank you. I'm really happy for me too," I laugh and he laughs with me.

We all head inside and I get out of my pajamas. I get in some clothes and I walk downstairs and stop at the last step.

I silently watch my family laugh and talk and warmth fills my heart.

Nothing can get better than this.
