Ashes

His heart was burning like a Phoenix
With blazing wings of hope
But who knew
That his soulful songs could become scary screams

He flew above the black and white clouds
With blazing wings of hope,
But he didn't knew
That he was just living in dreamy dreams

Once upon a time,
he used to smile
Seeing her smile

Writing rhymes
For her
All the time

He kept hiding his scars behind a mask
Hoping that she would heal them,
But she says that masks are only worn to hide wrong intentions

To give a fragrant flower was his only intention
But for her, roses have thorns too.

All he wanted was a bit of her attention
But for her, it was just an excuse.

Everyone has their own darkness
Hiding within their smiles.
They both had it-
One was afraid to open eyes,
Another afraid to close them.

She was like the world!
She walked in the road which the world paved
But he was completely different-
A road of roses he made,
Walked on the thorns while collecting them.

Fate brought them across each other again and again.

He was falling in day by day
Whenever he saw her,
Whether eyes closed or open.

He was worried that his nightmares might devour her
And so he started following her, afraid to lose a stranger
Wherever she went
But for her, only thieves follow people.

He didn't wanted to hurt,
But what was burning in his fiery heart
Was his own mind's thoughts
Within which he was completely lost

One day finally they came across each other
One holding a bunch of roses, another a knife behind;
He knew that he will lose his feather,
But still he said everything to her.

He believed in his love but forgot himself;
She believed that one who forgets himself is fake;
He was afraid but still took another step
And it was claimed to be a fake love.

She was the rose with thorns
He wanted to embrace
And he was the thorn of the rose
Which she didn't wanted to even touch

But isn't it the thorn which protects the rose?

To protect herself from another scar
She cut his wings which could burn her
And to protect her from his burning flame
He went somewhere far far away
Where no one could see him again.

It was raining, drenching him completely
He was shivering because of his fiery heartbeats getting frozen
She was in the same rain, drenching while cursing her fate
But her frozen heart couldn't be melted by that flame

His footsteps become slower as time passed away
His breathing became louder as he sat in the shade of a tree
A lot of noise echoed through his mind
He just wanted to be free
And let the noise go away

From deep within his heart
He kept hoping that she will return
From deep within his heart
He kept hurting himself for she was hurt

He remembered those millions of wishes he had
And realised that they're all drowning,
Like those people in Titanic, without any way to save them

The night seemed to never end
As there was no sight of sun

It felt like time stopped all around
But still the clock kept ticking
He kept waiting
For her to turn around

Inside, everything was hurting
Those scars were burning

"My presence is unnerving"
He said to himself while looking at the bloodstains in the road
Where he ran, crossing many unwanted places
He was like the phoenix who was always burning
But he wasn't the phoenix who could rise again from his ashes

She wanted to forget him
While he wanted to forget himself
His heart was broken into tiny pieces
He kept staring at the silent scene
Where there was no voice, no noise, and no choice.

“One can endure many scars,
  And still stand straight
But a sudden storm doesn't lets
  Someone stay standing
At the edge of the cliff”
