-THE OWNER-

Karina's POV

My eyes hurts and puffy as I opened them this morning. I was out of energy and doesn't really have the want to go to work but I have to.

Thank goodness the landlady here gave me last chance. I was on my way home when I got a call from my landlady to move out, I didn't expected that she'd thrown all of my clothes outside. I'm feeling hopeless and helpless yesterday but good thing I have saved some money from my previous work and gave it to her. She said it's my last chance and that I should pay for my whole rent this month and for the last month.

"Karina, hey!" Aya snapped her fingers in front of my face as I blinked multiple times, breaking myself from my own thoughts.

"Huh–what?" I stutter as I looked at her confusedly.

"What? My gosh, get to work or else Tasha will yank you out of the kitchen and scold you again." She spoked then rolled her eyes. She's a bit bitchy but she's nice, nicer than Tasha.

"O-oh yeah, sorry." I smiled at her and she does back at me as I took the tray of foods then started to walked out the kitchen to serve the guests.

It's work time. Gosh, I should focus and not ruin this job of mine again. I can't afford getting fired, specially that I really need money.

Walking my way towards the table, I got collided with a figure causing me to stumble and out of balance as it followed by an annoyed scream and the sound of glasses and plates being broken. Oh god, I'm screwed.

As I tried to get up, a forceful hand yanked my arm and I was met with the person who I bumped with. She's looking at me furiously and if her glare could kill then I'm already cold dead on the floor.

"Look at what you did!" She screamed on my face causing me to shut my eyes. We already gathered everyone's attention and some of them stood up, clearly want to know what's going on.

Please go away, I don't want attention.

She's pointing on her dress, painted with sauces. Gosh, what did I do?

"I-I'm sorry I thought there's no one on my way–" I wasn't ready for it. Her hand swung and collided with my right cheek as I stumbled back on the floor, my knees scraping on the broken glass as I felt the sting on my face and on my wounded knees. My dress is stained with foods.

Tears prickles on my eyes as I slowly cupped my throbbing cheek. I've never been slapped in the face before and it truly hurts.

I heard laughter broke behind her causing me to look up at her smirking face. There's two girls behind her that's looking at me disgustingly.

"You need to pay my dress–oops, does people like you even have money? Oh I know, to make it fair.." She talked mockingly and paused as she grabbed my both arms. Why am I so weak? I can't even defend myself.

And before I know it, her claw like fingers sunk on my shoulders causing me to winced as she ripped my sleeves. The people around us gasped but no one attempted to help me. She pushed me down on the floor again as my tears flowed uncontrollably from my eyes when they laughed at me.

"Oh my God Karina." I heard Aya coming towards me but before she could reach my spot, Tasha holds her hand and stopped her. She tried struggling but Tasha's hold became tightened.

"You deserve that for bumping on me, bitch!" The blonde girl shouted at me while pointing her finger in my direction and I can't help but to look down. I don't want to look at her. I'm so helpless, I'm the worst.

The peoples are still laughing but then the surrounding became totally silent all of a sudden. What? What's happening now?

"Get up." A cold voiced boomed in the air as I saw a pair of black shoes, stopped in front of me. Slowly looking up to find the owner of that voice, my eyes widened in shock as my parted lips quivered from trying to speak. How? Why is he here? What is he doing here? Oh my God..I must be dreaming right now.

Finally finding my voice, I stuttered while still looking up at his dark figure. "R-Raven.."

"How are you?" His grey eyes scanned me up and down making me looked down. I can't look at him. I don't have the courage to look at him in the eyes.

I don't know why but my tears kept falling from my eyes no matter how hard I try to stop them.

"What? Don't tell me you became deaf?" My ears twitched as I heard him. Not like the way he asked me when we first met, the way he asked me right now is full of sarcasm and bitterness.

I clenched my fist on my skirt as it shakes a little when he let out a loud mocking chuckle before leaning down and crouching on my level. I still didn't dared to look at him. His face is so close to mine that I almost feel his warm breath fanning on my forehead.

Raven leaned down even closer to me then moved passed my side as he whispered in my ears the words that paralyzed my whole body. "Aren't you gonna welcome back your best friend that you betrayed, Karina?"

I looked at him almost too instantly with my teary eyes as my lips quivered even more from my silent sob. Raven, my best friend...that I betrayed.

Raven glared at me using his cold grey eyes as he turned around, facing his back to me while I stared at his tall figure. He's wearing a black suit and his once ash brown hair turned into a light blonde locks. Raven's hair is a bit long and some strands fell just above his grey eyes, it looks so messy but that didn't decreased the appeal that he have, in fact it even increased. He's so tall and I suddenly felt so little.

I gulped hard, swallowing the lumped in my throat as he spoked to the girl who I bumped with– or more like, who bumped on me. It's not my fault but I can't say it. I'm so weak.

"I apologized for what happened. I'm Raven Montgomery, the owner of this hotel. Please do forgive us." I can't see his face but I guessed he have an effect on this girl I mean, who wouldn't be charmed by him? But wait– Raven Montgomery? The owner? He's the Mister Montgomery that everyone's afraid of and he's the one who owns this prestigious hotel that I'm working at right now?

"It's fine. But remove that girl already, she's not fit to work here in your prestigious hotel Raven." The blonde girl glared and spatted the words at me making me looked down again. I'm so screwed, I guess I'll just prepare myself on sleeping at the side of the street.

"I'll take care of this." Raven said in a firm voiced as he spun around and faced me again, he whispered lowly, "Get up, I won't gonna repeat this again and again." His dark cold voice sent shivers through my whole being as I struggled to get up on my feet. Gosh, the wound on my knees hurts and so does my still throbbing cheek. It feels numb, my whole body feels numb all of a sudden but thank God I managed to stand up.

Raven then started to walked away from the crowd and I stared at him confusedly before realizing that he wants me to follow him.

"What happened?" Shawn asked the moment he came out of the elevator as he looked at me then to Raven, his eyes held confusion and I remained on Raven's back, keeping my distance a bit far from him.

Without saying anything to him, Raven went inside the empty elevator as I hesitantly followed him and stood just beside him. What will happen to me now?

The elevator dinged and came to a stop as he went out without saying any words nor even glancing at my direction. I followed him until he opened a large door and disappeared from it.

Relax, he's just gonna fire you because you failed your work. Nothing bad will happen Karina.

Inhaling deeply, I opened the door as well to found out that it's his office.

The owner's office.

Raven's luxurious office.
