Akihiko and Izuku played around in the grass for as long as they could. They both confessed to wanting to be pro heroes.

I- "I want to be just like AllMight!"

A- "He's cool and all but have you seen the underground heroes?"
I- "Underground? There's more????"
A- "Hahaha yeah Izu!"

Akihiko blushed at the nickname that slipped from his mind to mouth. Izuku's eyes widened as he smiled and laughed at Akihiko's expression.

I- "If you get to call me that then I can call you Aki ouuuu or Hiko.... Hmm Iko? Kihiko? UGH I can't decideeee"
A- "Izu hahahah call me all of that, I don't mind. Meanwhile I'll stick to Izu and Zuku"

I- "I like that! Let's sneak into the library and search up the underground heroes! I'm very good at finding info that I shouldn't"
A- "I don't know whether to be concerned or not, but okay! I'd love to!"

They played around for an hour or 2 before the head of the orphanage came. Her name was Lunica. She grabbed Izuku harshly by the arm and dragged him, she also grabbed Akihiko but with less force. She shoved Izuku into his room as she was yelling at him, locking the door. She then tucked Akihiko into bed gently as she closed the doors and lights. Izuku was forced out of his small dream world with his new friend, and he hated it to say the least. His arm had a bruise in the shape of his hand print that would hurt the next morning.

He sighed, already used to harsh grabbing. He hesitated to touch the purple and blue skin, scared of the pain. He touched it anyway, flinching slightly at the overcoming pain and discomfort. "How hard was she grabbing me?" He questioned. He shook his head, no point in thinking about it now.

He got onto the bed, which consisted of a thin hard mattress with no blankets or pillows. Again, he just sighed, not really surprised by it. He found whatever he could to make him warm and curled up. An hour later he was finally asleep, only to be woken by the creaking outside his door. Although he was grateful for the ability, he hated how he needed it so much. He got up feeling the discomfort from his bruise and walked to the door. He peeked through the door to see Lunica there. He knew what was coming from the look on her face and he didn't like it.

Months went on the same. Lunica would beat him whenever she saw fit, she wouldn't feed him nor do anything for him in general, so he was left to take care of himself. It was hard at first, everytime he was in the kitchen he'd come out with more cuts than before, he'd get caught in the laundry, and he'd slip while cleaning. It was hell, but Izuku worked through it. Playing Cinderella was okay as long as he had Akihiko. Today they met up in their treehouse which they only found a couple weeks ago.

A- "Izu! Izu! I got my quirk!"

I- "WOAH THAT'S SO COOL AKI! What does it do? What are your limits? What d-"
A- "Calm down there Izu. I called it mental influence!"

I- "I need more information than that!"

A- "Okay okay. So certain emotions I feel influence my physical capabilities! I can also sort of manipulate others emotions. I can't guide my own though."

I- "WOAH OMG THATS SO COOL! Makingassumptionsangerwouldgiveyoustrengthwouldfeargiveyouresilience?Omgimmunity!Whatwouldsadnessgiveyou?Controlofwater?Speed?......"

A- "IZUKU! Your rambling again!"

I- "Huh? Oh! I'm sorry! I was just so interested!"

A- "Well to answer your question, I think it has to do with what I associate each emotion with. I associate anger with fire and strength, sadness with water and darkness, fear with invisibility and heightened sense, get it?'

I- "Mhmm! OOOOUUU YOU SAID IT COULD WORK ON OTHERS TRY IT ON ME!!"

A- "Like manipulate your emotions? Well I would see what you feel right now and then I would manipulate it kind of."

I- "Mhmm! Feel free!"

Akihiko smirked to himself as he grabbed Izuku's hand. A light glow of colors started flowing around him, his eyes turned white, then a shade of yellow. The emotions he felt were portrayed in colors surrounding him. The light started glowing, mainly yellow, but also grey, black, blue, and a little red were hidden behind. Akihiko was surprised, he quickly removed his hands and looked at the beaming Izuku sadly. Izuku caught on and his whole demeanor changed.

A- "Izuku.... Why are you so sad?"

I- "What do you mean Aki?"

A- "Don't try and lie to me Izu, quirks don't lie. If I looked past all the excitement and happiness, I'd see a lot of dull colors. Loneliness, sadness, disappointment, tiredness, and one that's worse but I can't describe. What's wrong?"

Izuku swallowed the ball in the back of his throat. Wasn't this normal? That's what he thought at least. Normal to have those underlying emotions, normal to feel all this pain, but it wasn't, and he didn't know that. His eyes watered, wanting for the dam to break and let out his pain, but it didn't. Akihiko didn't know what to do, he wanted to make him feel better, but he hasn't changed someone's emotions yet. This would be the first time he's tried this part of his quirk, seeing people's emotions was easy, but altering them? That was a whole other story.

He grabbed onto Izuku's hands and let out a deep breath. He opened his eyes slowly, his blue orbs had a yellow ring that shined around it like an outline. Izuku started to feel a warm bubbly feeling in his chest and he started to giggle. He looked over to see his friend looking sadder and sadder by the minute. He understood what was happening instantly and yanked his hands away. Akihiko's eyes returned to a normal bright blue like before.

I- "Akihiko! Are you okay? Did you know it'd do that? I'm sorry."

A- "Izuku..... Are you okay?"
I- "Huh? What do you mean am I okay? You're the one who looks like he's going to cry!"

A- "Izuku, the more I held onto you the more I could see your emotions, why are you so sad?"

I- "H-huh? Well isn't everyone a bit sad? I'm fine Aki"

A- "NO! No one else feels like that! It was so..... Cold. I have a feeling I didn't even see half of it. Izuku, why are you filled with black?"

Izuku started to tear up. He was close to his breaking point from the boy's words. He had been holding it in for so long, thinking it was normal. All he could think about was a question, "Will Akihiko leave me too?" Akihiko was confused and still trying to get over the glimpse he saw of what Izuku was feeling. He quickly shook himself out of it. Then he remembered, the main feeling he felt from Izuku, was loneliness. His eyes widened at the realization, does the boy think he will leave him because he's a bit sad? Akihiko pulled Izuku into a long and deep hug. Ignoring the way his shirt started to cling to his skin for the tears he started whispering

A- "I'm not leaving you anytime soon Izu. You aren't going to be alone. I'm not leaving, I promise."

Izuku continued to cry in the boy's chest, bawling his eyes out. He repeated the same phrase over and over again.

I- "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so-"

A- "Shhh it's okay Izuku, it's okay."

The boy's tears started to swell down as sniffles made their way into Akihiko's ears. He rubbed circles in Izuku's back, continuously whispering over and over again sweet nothings. Izuku fully calmed down after a little while and he moved off of his friend. He stood up then held out his hand while smiling.

I- "Thank you Aki! I feel SOOOO much better now hehe!"

A- "Yeah..."

He took Izuku's hand and got up. Izuku held onto it tight as he looked ahead with blank eyes. Akihiko looked at him concerned, only to sigh and smack his own head for his stupidity. Izuku didn't need a worry wart, he needed a friend, and Akihiko would do just that. He wanted to help Izuku through this, be his rock, his weight, his lifeline, his friend, and hopefully, his brother. He looked at their intertwined hands and whispered

I- "I promise to never leave you"

But how long would that 'never' last.....
