Chapter 11 ~ The poultice

When I woke up the next morning and sat up to finding Merlin sitting on his bed just staring at nothing.

"Hey, you good?" I ask 

"Yeah, just thinking," Merlin replies

"Elaborate," I say 

"I'm just worried that my spell didn't work," Merlin sighs

"What did you do anyway?" I ask 

"I made a poultice and put it under Gwen's father's pillow," Merlin smiles

"Okay well let's just hope no one finds it," I sigh "Now shouldn't you be heading to work."

"Oh yeah," Merlin jumps up and gets ready then runs out the door "See you later sis."

I can't help but smile. I decided to head down to the village and just see if there have been any new cases of the illness when I see Arthur standing by Gwen's father who was busy working at the forge. I quickly walk over there to see what was happening.

"I thought you were sick," Arthur says

"Not anymore," Gwen's father replies.

"Perhaps you were suffering from some other ailment," Arthur says looking very confused.

"You're joking." Gwen's father states "I felt like death itself, not enough strength in me to stir the air."

This can't be good. I knew Merlin shouldn't have done anything now Arthur suspects something.

"Then what happened?" Arthur asks.

"Maybe some people can get through it and others can't," I say 

"Oh shut up Olivia," Arthur hisses.

Honestly, has Arthur ever been nice to anyone in his whole life?

"I don't know what happened" Gwen's father replies "Suddenly it was gone.  I'm fitter than I was before,"

Okay, this guy seriously needs to shut up he's making things worse.

"That's remarkable," Arthur says  "Was anyone with you when all this happened?" 

I knew exactly what he was thinking whoever was with him that night would be accused as the sorcerer but in this case sorceress.

"Just my daughter Gwen," He replies.

I could see Arthur's face he turns around and starts heading for the castle I run up next to him.

"What are you going to do?" I ask

"That is none of your business I'm on official orders of the king," Arthur says walking away.

I turn around and see Guards searching Gwen's house they are definitely going to find the poultice. I sprint up to the castle passing Arthur.

"And where are you going in such a hurry?" Arthur calls after me.

"None of your business," I shout back.

I rush around the castle trying to find Merlin but of course, he was nowhere to be found. I run past Morgana's chambers.

"Seize her!" Arthur says angrily.

"No!" Gwen says extremely worried

"Guinevere, I am arresting you for crimes and contravention to the laws of Camelot, that you did practice enchantments," Arthur says.

I stand outside and watch two guards dragging Gwen out.

I burst into the chambers "Arthur? what are you doing!"
