Grant's POV
I narrowed my eyes at the figure, dragon wings spreading from her back. I said nothing until she became visible. This must be Saeko. She had shorter blonde hair and fair skin. The wings on her back spread wider and she took flight in the air, looking down at us and again yelling, asking who we were.
"We've come here to speak to Saeko. We seek her help." I said, the girl who must be Saeko slowly lowering herself until she was standing in front of us. She looked at all of us suspiciously before shaking her head.
"I will not offer my help to anyone dangerous to my family."
"We are not here to hurt you or your family."
"Oh? So you are saying your intentions are pure?"
"Yes."
"Well well well we'll see about that. Follow me." She said, turning her back to us. Akihiko, Eclipse and I all looked at what was on her back. So. She didn't have wings. She had a small dragon on her back acting like wings. How interesting.
We all followed her further into the heat of the territory. Soon standing before an absolutely, enormous dragon. The beast had glowing red eyes, pure white scales adorned with what looked like metal armor or crests.
Saeko looked up as the beast lowered it's head gracefully. Saeko smiled, pressing her hand to it's massive snout before resting her forehead against it.
"I have some guests for you, your highness." She said, gesturing to us. The dragon turned her head, eyes glowing brighter as Saeko instructed us to step up, one by one. I went first, staring at the dragon before receiving a nod. Saeko then had Akihiko step up who received the same thing. Eclipse walked up next, the dragon staring at her for a much longer time.
After a few more moments, the dragon bowed her head. Eclipse looking at Saeko who looked completely and utterly shocked. Once the dragon lifted her head back up, Saeko looked at all of us.
"Well. It seems that our queen fully approves... more than approve.. What have you come seeking?" She asked with a smile. Eclipse smiled, relieved. Explaining our story. After our tale was told, someone tackled Eclipse.
"Yo did you say Hinata?" Eclipse yelped as I quickly went over to help her before seeing another woman walk over and drag the guy off of Eclipse. I helped Eclipse up, the woman, who had raven black hair, elbow the man.
"Sorry, sorry. I'm Tanaka. Well, you can call me Ryu. And thisssss, is my wife Kiyoko." The man said, his wife giving us a polite nod and apologizing for her husband's rude way of greeting us. Eclipse laughed slightly as I helped dust off some soot from her clothes and cheek.
"Heh, it's okay no harm done... Yeah, I said Hinata.. Don't tell me. You know my dad too." Eclipse said with a small smile. Ryu smiled and nodded.
"Yep I know him. So tiny servant is moving up eh?"
"Ryu." Kiyoko said sternly. He smiled slightly and shrugged, giving her a kiss as she rolled her eyes but hooked an arm around his. Saeko smiled and waved her hand dismissively.
"Ignore my brother. Well, I don't know. What do you think your majesty?" She asked the dragon who, I suppose was checking us. The dragon lowered her head, nudging Eclipse gently before blowing a puff of smoke. Saeko hummed faintly before shaking her head.
"We will not send our dragons into battle with you." She said, Eclipse looking disappointed. I felt disappointed myself. We had a lot of help, for which I was grateful. but surely dragons would turn the fight in favor of us. Eclipse sighed gently and gave a bow.
"I understa-"
"But, we will provide you with one dragon." She said, Eclipse widening her eyes. Saeko asked us to follow, the, presumably queen dragon, watching us go before picking Ryu up by the tail of his long coat. Kiyoko laughing as he apologized for acting stupid.
Eclipse's POV
I was excited now. One dragon certainly wasn't as many as, well, several or all of them. BUT, one is better than nothing. Saeko led us to another den, walking in. It looked pitch black. I was about to ask what we were doing here when suddenly everything around us began shaking.
Akihiko and I grabbed onto Grant when suddenly, a dragon that was even BIGGER than the white one unfurled its wings. It was massive... I couldn't help but stare up at it as it stood to its full height. I had to crane my neck back just to look at his head.
"Woah....."
"This is Nightfall." Saeko said proudly, reaching her hand up. The dragon lowered its head, far down so it was almost lying down. Saeko pat his snout and was petting it like it was a giant puppy dog.
"Yes you're a good boy!" She said, getting a puff of smoke to the face. She coughed with a huff.
"Awwww, is someone grumpy from being woken up?" She said in a baby voice. I just watched in silence as Nightfall looked down at all of us. He was magnificent. He had black scales, and his claws were massive.
"We'll be lending you this good boy." Saeko said, Grant mumbling something to Akihiko. Whatever it was it made him stifle a giggle. Saeko asked when exactly this little plan of ours was going to be taking action. I told her that it'd be a few days.
"A few days huh? Well, you guys should rest then."
"Oh no, we need to get home in order for this all to go down."
"Oh you guys can just ride Nightfall. He'll get you there in a few hours."
"We have horses."
"He can carry horses. He has claws ya know."
"...Won't that kill them?"
"No, he can be gentle if he wants to." Saeko said. I looked at Grant who seemed to agree we should take the time to rest if possible. I nodded, accepting Saeko's offer and following her out of the giant den and to what looked like a home made of cooled lavas and rocks. The time was getting closer, and I was feeling anxious.
Once we were settled in our rooms, I walked over to Grant while he was taking his shirt off to help cope with the heat.
"Hey Grant...?"
"Mhm?"
"Can I use your necklace to talk to your dad?"
"Of course... are you worried?"
"Yeah.. I want to talk to my dads.." I said quietly, Grant taking the special necklace that Kotaro gave him off before handing it to me.
"You know how to use it right?"
"Yeah. I hope there's some water around here somewhere."
