Yamaguchi's POV
Everything around me seemed nonexistent. All I saw was Tsukki. I quietly held his hand, holding it tightly. I teared up yet again, using my other hand to cup his cheek, not caring that I got blood on my palms. His breathing had stilled a long time ago..
"Hey... want to give this a try?" I looked up, seeing someone, well, I guess werewolf, approach me. He held his hand out, dropping a small vile into my hand.
"What is it..?"
"It's a potion. It could help." They said. I looked down at Tsukki, not even sure he was still alive.. But I was willing to try anything. I began opening the little glass vile when Noya groaned in pain. Asahi holding him closely. The werewolf apologized and said that I was holding the last of the potion. Asahi just nodded, keeping his eyes on Noya who was looking worse and worse from the burns he got.
"...Asahi, give this to Noya." I said quietly, Asahi looking at me surprised.
"Are, are you sure..?" He asked with worry. I just nodded and held the potion out to him. He thanked me, taking the vile and sitting down with Noya in his lap. I watched as Asahi tilted Noya's head back a little bit and got him to drink the potion. After a bit, Noya opened his eyes and quietly held onto Asahi.
I smiled slightly, glad that I could at least do that much.. What good was a potion on a dead body. But Noya was alive, and now he'd recover quickly. I looked back down at Tsukki, resting my hand on his cheek again while rubbing his cheek with my thumb.
"I'm sorry Tsukki... I love you." I whispered, leaning down with a small smile. I gave his lips a gentle kiss, ignoring the bit of blood on him. After I pulled away, I gently laid his head down and got up slowly. The others looking at me as I began to walk off so the soldiers could take him. As I was walking away, I heard a weak voice.
"Yama..." I paused, turning and seeing Tsukki opening his eyes. I couldn't believe what I saw. I nearly threw myself onto the ground, cupping Tsukki's cheeks.
"Tsukki..?" I said, Tsukki giving me a weak and tired smile. I started crying again, but this time from just being overwhelmed, and happy. I looked up when Grant and Akihiko walked over, smiling at them. Grant smiled gently at me as Akihiko looked just as relieved as I was.
"I can help him towards the sea. My father can help quicken the healing. He can heal your arm, and Noya too." Grant said, looking over at Asahi and Ennoshita who both nodded. I got up, letting Grant help Tsukki to his feet. Tsukki put his arm around Grant's shoulders, all of us slowly making our way to the shores.
Grant's POV
Once we were at the shore, I was gentle to help Tsukishima down on the sand. My dad helping him while my other dad helped Noya. Another mermaid helping the servant with the broken and bloodied arm. Akihiko sat with me in the sand quietly, his hands busy messing with my shirt.
"Grant..?"
"Hm?"
"Now.. Now that this is all over... are you going to be going back home with your dads?" He asked quietly. I sighed gently but nodded. Akihiko looked saddened, nodding silently and pulling his hand away. I frowned slightly, twisting a bit to face him and cupping his cheeks. Akihiko looked up at me with teary eyes, his hands grabbing onto me as I kissed him softly.
"I'll come visit you."
"Promise..?"
"I promise." I said, kissing him again. He smiled slightly before taking in a breath and mumbling that we should go check on Eclipse before I have to go. I nodded, both of us heading back to the village. We found Eclipse with her fathers, still comforting her. When she spotted us, she got up and crashed into me and Akihiko.
"You guys are alive..!" She said, making me smile faintly. I nodded, hugging her back tightly.
"What, you really think we would just die on you?"
"Boke.. you better not!" She shouted, pulling away and punching my arm. I laughed, watching her hug Akihiko before she looked up at me with a small smile, knowing what was to come.
"I'll visit you too, okay?"
"You better. And I'll come visit you too. I love it down there." She said with a smile, making me chuckle. I nodded, giving her another tight hug before she ran back over to her parents. Akihiko stayed quiet as I held his hand, giving him a soft smile as we walked back to the sea together. Tsukki, Noya, and the other servant all looked much better already.
I smiled to see Suga, Daichi, and their daughter were here as well. They seemed busy helping villagers get back on their feet and directing people the right way back home. I walked to the water, Akihiko following as we both stood in the shallows of it.
"You absolutely promise you will come visit me..?" Akihiko asked quietly. I nodded, giving him a passionate kiss before pulling away. Smiling gently at him before diving deep into the water. Holding my breath until my tail was fully formed. I sighed, looking up at the surface of the water. Barely able to make out Akihiko's figure before my dads swam over to me.
"Are you alright?" Akaashi asked gently. I nodded, mumbling we should just go. We waited for the rest of the mermaids and mermen to join us before returning home. I looked around, watching everyone talk about what had happened. Though I was back home with my family and my people, I have never felt so alone.
A week's Time Skip
"Hey Grant, come with me." Akaashi told me. I followed him quietly out of the city. Arriving at the cave where we kept the trident. The Loch Ness Monster had returned to her spot here, giving us gentle growls as we approach.
"Hi.. good work girl." I said, giving her snout a gentle pat before swimming past her into the cave with my dad. He led me right to the trident.
"Dad. What are we doing here??"
"I just.. I want to see something."
"..Alright, what is it?"
"Take it." He said, gesturing to the trident. I looked at him confused but swam over. When I placed my hand on the trident, nothing happened. I furrowed my brows, pulling, but was unable to remove the trident from its spot.
"What..?" I muttered in confusion. I removed my hand. My dad looking at me with a small smile.
"It knows what you want.. Do you know what you want? And where you truly belong?" He asked me with a slight grin. I looked at my dad quietly before crashing into him, laughing as we both spun into the wall. My dad smiled and rolled his eyes.
"...I had hoped you had grown out of sneak attacking me." He said, making me laugh some more as I pulled away. I helped him back upright before hugging him tightly.
"Sorry dad."
"It's alright. Now. You know where you belong. And who you belong with. So you should be going."
"Thank you dad.."
"You better come visit your father and I."
"I will. I promise." I said, hugging him once more before turning and swimming off quickly. I was headed home, to the person I belonged with.
