--Scott--

"Good morning Mitch."

"Good morning Scott." I walked over to Mitch and placed a kiss on his lips, "Can we do that? At work."

"I'm the boss. Now sit down. We have a meeting at 10 and a conference at 1."

"Alrighty sir." He sat down in his chair and brought out his laptop while I logged onto mine.

"How's Andrew?"

"He's good. He's been begging me for a cat though."

"A cat?"

"Yeah. And not just any cat, a Sphynx cat."

"Oh I've heard of those. The hairless ones?"

"Correct. He says he has to have one. But they're so damn expensive and since I am now a single father, I can't get him one."

"He just randomly wants one?"

"Well, his birthday is next month and he hasn't been able to decide what he wants. But he was online with me yesterday and he saw an ad for them. He won't stop talking about them."

"He wants a Sphynx cat for his 6th birthday? Wow."

"He takes after me. I've wanted one since I was an infant. I could never get one though and I feel bad that I can't get him what he wants."

"We'll see about that."

"No we won't. I could never afford one. I'm thinking of having a mini party for him though. It's only mini because he's only inviting two friends and then me. Oh and he invited you too." Mitch said, looking up at me with a smile.

"Me? To go to his birthday party?"

"Yes. He said, 'daddy, your boyfriend Scotty definitely has to come.'"

"Wow. Alright. Reserve me a spot then."

"Awesome. I'll let him know."

-

"That meeting was more stressful than I thought it was gonna be." I stated when we got back into the office.

"I agree. But I'm hungry and it's lunch time so I'm leaving." Mitch said, grabbing his jacket.

"Where ya going?"

"Chipotle, of course. Wanna join or sit here by yourself?" He asked, smiling.

"Only since you offered." I walked over to him after putting my coat on and wrapped my arm over his shoulder, "I think you and I are getting along quite well."

"Me too." He said, I leaned down to kiss him and the receptionist giggled.

"Get to work Beth." I said sarcastically.

--Mitch--

"Chipotle is so good." I said, taking another bite.

"I agree. So, the party. What should I get him?"

"Get him?"

"Yeah. You know when you go to a person's birthday party, you usually get them a gift."

"I know. But it's not necessary."

"It's definitely necessary. I'll look like an ass at his party. 'Oh I'm dating your dad but I'm not gonna get you a gift.' No. Not happening. Now, will you answer me?"

"Sure. I'm not sure what anyone else should get him because I'm not sure what I'm getting him."

"Fine. What if we get him a gift together? Say maybe, a Sphynx cat?"

"No no. You don't need to do that. I don't even have half that money."

"Fine. Then I guess we won't share it and I'll get it myself."

"No Scott. You're not allowed to do that."

"Why not?"

"If you get him the present he asked me, his dad, for then how is that supposed to make me look and feel? I can't afford him the gift he wants but my rich boyfriend can. I'll look like an ass, or that I'm using you for money."

"Well you're not either. But I think he deserves what he wants. So that's why we share, Mitch."

"Ugh. There's no turning this down, is there?"

"Nope. We go look next week. Okay?"

"Okay."

"And Mitch?"

"Yeah?" I asked, looking up at him.

He had the biggest smile on his face and it made my heart melt, "I love you."

"I love you too."
