Eleven

I went home after work to see Andrew sitting at the table, "Hey baby. How was school?" I sat down next to him to see that he was crying, "Andrew, what's wrong?" I pulled him into my arms and held him as he cried. I waited for him to calm down before holding his shoulders and making him look at me, "What happened?"

"Dad isn't here. I've been here b-by myself." I gasped and held him again before letting out a deep sigh. What do I do?

I heard Joel's car door shut so I left Andrew's bedroom and went downstairs. When I got down there Joel was taking off his jacket and shoes, "Hey." I said, standing at the bottom of the stairs with my arms crossed over my chest.

"Hey. Andrew in bed?" He walked closer to me and stopped when I held up my hand.

"Yes. He is. Considering it's one in the morning. Where have you been? You haven't been home since last night."

"I've been out. It's none of your business."

"It's none of my business? It is absolutely my business when you don't come home and stay with your son! He was here by himself until I got home from work Joel!"

"That's not my problem." He pushed by me and walked up the stairs. I followed behind him as he continued.

"It is your problem when something serious could've happened to him Joel!" He quickly turned around and grabbed my shoulders.

"I. DON'T. CARE." He shoved me hard and I fell down the stairs, blacking out once I hit the hard floor.
