Thirty-One

--Scott--

I wanna take Mitch on a date tonight. It's our 4 month anniversary and I wanna show him how much I love him.

"Hey Scotty." I was sitting at my desk when Mitch came in.

"Hey baby. How're you today?" He sat down across from me.

"I'm doing fine. Stressed because I haven't heard from the father of my kid in, like, 8 months. But oh well."

"Doesn't he have to pay child support?"

"Yep. No one knows where he is so there's nothing we can do."

"I'm sorry babe. Wanna get your mind off it all for tonight?"

"Yes...why?"

"Because I set up Ashley to babysit again and we're going out."

"Scott..."

"It's not up to you. I know you wanna spend time with Andrew, but I wanna take you on a date. We've been busy for the past 4 months so we haven't been able to go on one. A proper one."

"We took Andrew to the park and got ice cream."

"With Andrew, Mitch. We've been taking Andrew with us to everything. Not that I don't love spending time with him, but breaks need to happen."

"No I get it. I'm excited Scotty."

"Good. I'm not telling you what I have planned, but just know it's happening."

"I like surprises." He winked at me and turned to his laptop.

I pulled up to the restaurant and parked close to the front. I shut off the car and quickly ran over to Mitch's side and opened the door, "Such a gentleman. Thank you." I closed his door when he stepped out and then held my arm out for him to slip his through.

"You ready?"

"Absolutely. I'm ready to have a good dinner with my amazing boyfriend at a nice restaurant. Thank you Scott."

"You're welcome Mitch." I leaned down and kissed him before holding the restaurant door open for him.

"This is so good." I said, Scott giggling at my obsession of the wine.

"It really is. I can't wait for the food. I'm quite excited."

"Me too. This place is amazing."

"It is. I love it."

"Me too. Thanks again for this. I definitely needed it."

"You're welcome Mitch. I know you needed it, that's why I did it."

"Well, still. It's an amazing place."

"Dinner was so amazing. Now, I have to finish this bottle of delicious wine."

"Same, Mitchy, same."

"It's honestly, so good."

"I agree. But, I have something to ask you before we leave. Okay?"

"Okay. Sure. What is it Scotty?"

"Mitchy, I knew the second I met you that there was something about you I needed. It turns out it wasn't something about you at all. It was just you. I've looked at you in millions of ways and I have loved you in each. Somehow you came and changed my everything. I love you so much Mitch. You and Andrew. He's an amazing kid and I'm so happy to have both of you in my life. I love you for all that you are, all that you have been, and all you're yet to be.
So, Mitchell Coby Michael Grassi, will you do the honor of marrying me?" I watched Scott get down on one knee holding an open ring case. Tears streaming down my face and people around us watched.

I looked into his beautiful blue eyes and said, "Yes, Scott. I'll marry you." He stood up, grabbing my hand and pulling me up with him. He placed the ring on my finger and brought me in for a kiss with his hands on my lower back.

"I love you Mitch." He said, setting his head on my shoulder.

"I love you too Scott."
