Now I remember precisely why I hate first Fridays. The scorching heat, added with crowded villages. Around this part of summer, it wouldn't be that bad from my home in the shade but I don't have a home in the stlits. Maven destroyed it.

Passing the Haven, I walk past a village, the ground is solid, not damp and muddy as it would usually be during the rainy season.

I feel my now black hair sticking to my cheek. Prior to leaving I was able to dye my hair. Thankfully the dye isn't permanent so I wouldn't stain my hair colour, that would infuriate Gisa.

As I amble through the crowd, I feel some eyes on me. On the unfavorable side of this I don't have Haven; It was suppose to be the last place. I internally slap myself.

I walk swiftly to the back door of a kitchen pushing the door the hot metal almost stinging.

Evangeline

Ever since Maven's repulsive public announcement. All Cal does is stare into thin air.

We're going to Whitefire. I haven't the slightest clue why I don't hear whispers from the red maids anymore, everyone seems tight lipped or maybe just in front of me.

I look down from the glass window as we pass Haven, even from the air jet the heat is unbearable but Cal seems unbothered.

Looking at him I ask.

"Do you even care about the way Maven diminished Mare's reputation." He looks up at me. Eyes burning bright as bronze itself.

"This is war, infact I'm quite proud that he did what he did, and let's not forget, whatever silvers are at his side now, their there because they believe in his rule." I think my jaw must have hit the floor.

He cares, he must.

"Mare-"

"Mare! I was willing to throw a whole kingdom away for Mare and she wanted Maven."

She doesn't want him back now. Mare would never take back that blood sucking vampire.

"Your blaming her for things that happened a long time ago." His features soften.

"You knew everything she went through; the brand, the captivity, the letters." His eyes flash.

"How do you know about the letters." He questions averting the topic.

Coward.

"She told me, when we were busy conquering Norta for you." He sighs and rolls his eyes.

He remains silent for the rest of the ride to Whitefire.

Mare

Everyone seems swamped in this tight crowded kitchen, probably to finish up the night shifts and collect their unfair wages.

A hand touches mine and leads me to a room with white silks and other garments. This is where launders work.

I turn my head to see a beautiful girl with ash blonde hair. Probably a few years older than me. Her eyes are as blue as Maven's. I take a deep breath.

"My queen, these are the keys to an air jet disguise under the bridge about ten minutes from here. There are silver guards on the way there, so be careful."

Gladly Shade and Bree got the air jet and the disguise for me. No one really seemed to stop me. Well I guess they couldn't. I bet that Davidson doesn't even know that I'm gone. I cringe. The wrath I would have to face.
