Mare

Maybe as I'm laying in my bed I'm finally acknowledging the glares and the stares. Julian's stubble, Cal's harder feature, Maven hormonal spurt, and Evangeline softer qualities, something I thought I'd never see.

The venturesome looks they both gave as we stood fifteen feet apart against a black as tar marble floor.

I'm thankful for the letters Maven sent, on the economic balance but sadly they are not useful, atleast not yet. First comes war and then comes politics. To rule a monarch you must first conquer using the art of war. I'm not the best at strategizing but I am thrilled to have learned from the best.

Sadly I ended up staying in my old room. I don't know why, it leaves me reminiscing in the past. The way Maven stood in the dark and touched my cheek, I still feel disgusted with myself, for feeling something. A feeling I will effortlessly keep pushing down into the very pits of my stomach. If I could I would burn these butterflies.

I meander around the room until I finally sat at the rich oak desk in which the map of Norta rested. The map has begun to look old, probably from my constant usage. I have looked at this map so much times. I begin to sink in my seat.

The stress of this war has not yet started and blood has been shed yet but this is going to be overwhelming. I just wonder how my nemeses are coping.

The title of being called 'queen' and not feeling anywhere close to it sets a new level of anxiety.

A brief knocks sounds at the door and Cameron enters, her hair looks beautiful, black shinny long braids. Alluring black skin and full lips. Kilorn had told me she would be arriving today.

"So Calore kicked you to the curb." She earned a laugh from me.

"Still such a barrel of laughs, good to know you haven't changed." She tilted her head looking confused.

"Farley had described a more broken down sadden Mare." I'm aware they talk frequently but I had wished that they had better things than me to talk about.

"If you're here to say I told you so, you can leave." I gave her a bored expression.

"You shouldn't have fallen for his sad smile, maybe you should have stay with Maven from the beginning." I feel like yanking out my hair and a bolt of light strikes followed by a loud thunder.

"You're in the same place you were last year." She says. The chairs pushes back as I stand.

"I don't know if anybody briefed you on this but Norta cannot survive being a Republic right about now, there's silver supremacist-" she cuts me off.

"I know that, and stop changing the topic." I return to my seat.

"Wait does that mean, you and Maven are still technically betrothed." She gasps at her discovery.

"I think he ended the engagement by trying to publically execute me." I reassured her while giving her a look.

"That's sad, he was a gorgeous man." I scoffed, Maven is barely a man.

"It really sounds like your defending him. The red killer." I say as acids drips from my words.

"I'm aware he killed reds. I was just pointing out how you would have saved that blood shed and save yourself the heartbreak caused by Cal."

"I'm sorry if all I wanted to do was die at the moment and not be with the same man that slandered my reputation and killed Lucas." She quirks an eyebrow probably because no one knew about Lucas. One of the many that taught me not to despise silvers, the rest ending up betraying my trust eventually.
