Mare

Sometimes, certain people enter your life, give you a push and leave. I never returned the earrings. They are here in my hands and somehow despite my current feelings. Looking down at the red gem. I slowly place them on my ear with the rest of my earrings.

A momentum to remember him.

I ignore the stinging pain induced by betrayal. Today seems slow as get ready for today, I tie each lace into a bow.

Norta is an outlaw. It is indirectly my fault. I acknowledge that but I can take advantage of this.

Not from you're current standing point. Nothing will ever change.

There is a no guarantee if and when Piedmont will cast their war. During my time crisscrossing Norta. I learned things.

Not enough to be a better general than Cal. But it looks like these days he enjoys being a royalty than a general.

I have to agree that war is strenuous. Maven has his best generals, maybe even Norta's best at his side. I've heard of his Governor's betrayal. Too much betrayal. A game of volleyball but the players are the balls, bouncing in between Kingdoms.

Norta may not be ready to break out of a monarch but it should at this point. A total reformation.

The thought gives me a sense of ease.

But as Davidson said no Silver houses were willing to kneel to the new reformation.

I catch a glimpse of Davidson as I exit the my Chambers.

He quickly comes to me.

"I don't see the need for my own private chambers." He looks at me again. During our time, he has let down his mask. Allowing me to see his emotions.

"We need to portray you as one of royalty." I scoff. I do not take into mind the rumors and the whispers. But they hardly will ever consider me as royalty.

"Mare, trust the fact that the silver elite will crack and once they does, we have our chance." His face is shockingly handsome.

But Maven is beautiful.

I scold myself immediately, sinking my nails into my palms to bringing me back.

"This doesn't have to be the end Davidson, we can still break this."

"I never pegged you for one to have insecurities."

"I'm not insecure, I'm being logical. I know Maven, he's more messed up than this country is, and at least Maven is being logical, but Cal will never change his viewpoint, Ptolemus is underestimated. He is influencing Cal's mindset and does not get me started on Anabel."

"So what do you suggest Mare? We kill them?"

"We're not in a position to do that. Not with this war at hand." He exhales and puts both hands on my shoulders.

"Mare, I hate to say this but once Cal and Evangeline have conceived their heir. The Silver Elite will be convinced that they are the future of Norta. They were meant to be together. Their joint union will be everything Norta needs. Other countries already view the royals of this country as weak and young."

"Why are you telling me this?" My blood runs cold.

"I know you still yield a bond to the king of Delphin. I needed to see your reaction I guess. But what I say is true. We will talk more of this once this war is over."

"But for now. We have a war to fight and we're fighting on a depleting legion and last time I checked there were two other kings of Norta."

He comes closer.
