Confrontations

Tristan and I have never been this close before. I mean we’ve had our peaceful best friends phases where there isn’t anything we have to argue about and are just in perfect synchronism.  Now we have that and an added connection and intimacy to our relationship. It’s like we’re in our perfect bubble. No one has bothered us. We’re falling into a perfect routine.

Jasper’s sick of us and claims we’re like an old married couple.  Well, the fact that I can barely go out for a date sort of ruins the whole dating process. Plus we never really saw a need for going on dates. We already knew each other so well. Our dates would be just so we could spend time with each other. We already do that and we prefer it when we’re alone in either Tristan’s room or my room. That’s where we can finally kiss and make out. I honestly have no clue how we ever got by before this. It makes so much sense now that we’re making out. Every time we do it, it seems like I’m doing it for the first time. The spell never fades, only amplifies.

My parents seem to be backing off. The beatings are lesser but still there. My father would come back drunk or unhappy and beat me but he would leave me after a while and I was never seriously injured.  Just a bruise here and there.  Tristan got pissed each time but I’d just calm him down by telling him that I was turning eighteen soon so I can move out. That calmed him down. Of course I had no intentions of leaving my parents, but I’ll fight that battle when it came. Right now, I didn’t want to ruin what Tristan and I had. It was perfect.

It’s the eve of Halloween and the whole school’s in costumes. There’s a game on Halloween day so that’s why everyone’s in costumes today. Tomorrow they’re going to be in school colors. Jasper had managed to persuade my parents yet again to let me participate in the football game. How he did it was beyond my knowledge, I just relished at my short burst of freedom.  Tristan and I were planning on using him so we could go on a date. Our first date.

Anyway, Tristan and I have decided to go as and Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez from high school musical. We didn’t want to dress up so much and so we picked those two. It was easy for him; all he had to do was wear track pants and red colored cloths. I had to curl my hair and wear a dress with a cardigan.  The dress had been an issue but Tristan had told me he’d pick out a dress and as skeptical as I was about him picking a dress for me I was curious as to what he would get me. So it’s understandable that when I opened the gift bag I was actually doing it with as much skeptism and fear anyone could muster.

“Will you relax?” He tells me as he watches me opening the gift bag, grinning. He’s confident.

“Easy for you to say, you don’t have your at-times-vindictive-bestfriend-slash-boyfriend picking out a dress for you” I snap at him playfully and Tristan chuckles.

However when I do take it out, I all but gasp in awe. It looked beautiful. The dress was not my style but it was beautiful. It was covered in flower patterns with a blue background. It was simple yet striking.

“He nails it.” Tristan glowers as he watches me.

I turn to him and throw myself at him, hugging him around the neck. Tristan laughs out loud and hugs me back. “I love it Tri. Thank you” I say and kiss his cheek in appreciation.

So I’m in that dress and a baby blue cardigan to match. Tristan’s wearing a ‘wild cats’ hat and is in a red hoodie and track pants. Everyone compliments us on out costume choice. Tristan grins at me and tells me each time he can that I look beautiful and I just melt at his words.
