A few days had passed and today was Friday. The group and I all had free periods, so we decided to meet outside in the courtyard. I was walking alongside Cedric, and we were on our way to meet the others.
Just then, Max walked up to us. "Hi, Ms. Morningstar!" he exclaims. "Cynthia." I corrected lowly. "Hi, Cynthia!" he exclaimed again. "Hello, Max. Do you need something?" I greeted back.
He hands me two buttons, one for me and one for Cedric. I looked down at them and laugh while pointing at Cedric. He gives me a confused look before looking at the buttons and letting out a groan.
The first picture was yellow with his face and name on it, but then it turned green with Potter's face on it and the phrase 'Potter Stinks'. I pinned my button to my robes and then pinned Cedric's button to his.
Max waved with a bright smile and then ran off, down the corridor. Cedric and I continued to walk down the corridor while I laughed at poked at him. "Your face is on a button!" I mocked shoving into him.
He stifled a laugh and hid his smile while shoving me right back.

We made it outside and to the bench where the others were sitting. Cedric was once again resting his head in my lap. "Are you gonna come support me at the three tasks?" he asked, moving his book and looking up at me.
I looked at him as though he grew a tree out of his head. "No, I'm going to support Saint Potter." I said in a low sarcastic tone. Cedric scoffed and brought his hand up before lightly pushing on my forehead, causing my head to lean back. I laugh down at him and flick him on the forehead. "I'll give you my extra Hufflepuff scarf so you can wear it to the tasks." he explained. I nodded in understanding.
-
The group and I were laughing about how I was trying to push Cedric off of me to fall on the ground when Potter walked up to us.
Cedric immediately shot up and his smile disappeared in an instant. Potter mumbled something to him causing him to turn back to me. "I'll see you at dinner, stay out of trouble." he said before walking off with Potter.
I shrugged it off and turned to Jack. "So did you ever figure out how many rolls you could eat before you were completely full?" I questioned, poking at his arm.
He let out a hearty chuckle before lightly pushing my head, causing me to sway backwards for a second. "Twenty Seven." he stated proudly. I clapped my hands giddily. "Good job, Jack!" I exclaimed in a mock tone. He scoffed and turned away to hide his smile.
"Great Hall?" I questioned as I stood up. Everyone nodded and mumbled their answers in agreement and stood up. Daphne and I linked our arms before walking.
Daphne and my friendship has always been different. She understands that sometimes I just need to be left alone, and she doesn't love me any less for it. She understands that I'm not an affectionate person and that I'm bad at comforting people, so when I do try my best to comfort her, she's grateful.

We reached the Great Hall and sat down for dinner. I put some mashed potatoes, green beans and grilled chicken on my plate.
I was cutting up my grilled chicken when Cedric came up and sat beside me. "Did you get into any trouble?" he asked, looking down at me. "No." I replied, still looking down at my chicken. "Did she get into any trouble?" he asked the group, now looking at them. "No." they all said in unison.
He nodded before fixing himself a plate.
I was putting a few green beans in my mouth when Malfoy's voice interrupted my thoughts. 'Pansy's looking to start a fight. Whatever you do, don't swing unless absolutely necessary. Dumbledore keeps glancing at you to make sure you're not in any trouble.'
I looked up and around the table, and finally found Malfoy. He was staring at me with furrowed brows and he flickered his gaze up to the front of the Great Hall twice. I didn't move my head, I just looked over slightly to see that Dumbledore was, in fact, looking at me.
I slowly turned back to Malfoy and gave him a discreet, curt nod. Just as he gave one back, Parkinson walked over and stood across from me, behind Daphne.
"Hey, Morningbitch." she said in a chirpy tone.
"Hello, Parkinslut. How can I help you?" I snapped back with a smile and a tilt of my head.
She forced Daphne and Blaise apart and took a seat between them, across from me. "Glad you asked. If you could leave this school and never show your face ever again, that would be great." she said in a whimsical manner.
"Well, if you could be so kind to just shut the fuck up or stop existing all together, that would also be great. However, it seems we can't always get what we want." I said in a sweet tone.
She then shot up and reached across the table before grabbing me by my collar and pulling me closer to her. My blood started to boil and I snapped my attention to Dumbledore. His eyes shifted from me, to Parkinson then back to me. He cocked his brows and took a sip of his pumpkin juice before looking up at the ceiling.
I grinned and turn back to Parkinson. "Let go, or I swear to Merlin himself I will end you." I sneered. She scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Oh but haven't you heard? Cynthia Morningstars gone soft. She doesn't fight anymore. At least, that's what's been going around." she said with a smirk.
I then looked around to see everyone at the Slytherin table looking at us. The next thing I knew, my fist was back and then it was colliding with her face so vigorously, she fell backwards and hit her head, knocking her unconscious.
"Anyone else think I've gone fucking soft?" I shouted at the Slytherin table with a heaving chest, making almost everyone in the Great Hall look at me. They all either looked away or shook their heads. I ran my hand through my hair to get it out of my face and tried to catch my breath. I brought my hand up to my face and flicked my thumb over my nose twice.
I stepped away from the table and slung my bag over my arm. "Let's go, Hufflepuff." I said. Cedric stands up and we walked out of the Great Hall, which was silent until we had left.
-
"So, what's my punishment?" I asked as Dumbledore and Snape walked into his office. Cedric and I came to his office after leaving the Great Hall.
"What do you mean?" Dumbledore asked, tilting his head slightly in confusion. "I mean, what's my punishment for my stunt in the Great Hall?" I elaborated.
"That was self defense. Ms. Parkinson grabbed you, and out of instinct you hit her. Plus, Mr. Malfoy just informed me on my way here that Ms. Parkinson was telling others that she planned on provoking you on purpose so you would get expelled. You will not be receiving punishment." Dumbledore explained.
I nodded in understanding and ran my fingers through my hair. "Headmaster, could we go now? I'd like to get Cynthia to her common room now so I can go back to mine and go to sleep." Cedric reprimanded. Dumbledore nodded and Cedric and I said our goodbyes before leaving.
