Chapter 10 No powers

"I mean it! The way you stood up to those people was epic! Like, you are so young and yet so bold. I wish I had half of the guts you had with my mom!" Sirenella confessed to them how she felt about her mom, Mermista.
She told that, for Mermista, nothing she ever did was good enough.
"She alway critices my clothes, my friends, my girlfriends! And I always end up doing what she says! Even if I don't want to! But this time I'm going to put a stop to it! Yes, this time I'm gonna be disobedient!" Sirenella said with conviction.
Finn clapped their hands after that beautiful speech.
Cupid and Hordette had the same confused face.
"And what exactly are you going to do?" Cupid asked to Sirenella.
"First!" She said "I'm gonna talk with the person my mom forbade me to talk to!" She shoked Hordette's hand and introduced herself.
"Hi! I'm Sirenella, nice to meet you. Cool cannon arm. Second! I'm not going home before curfew! And third! I'm going to bring you to-! Where did you say before?" .
"Beast Island" said Hordette.
"There!".
Sirenella seemed too much exited.
Anyway, Hordette accepted her help, and once again she said to Finn and Cupid that they were free to go home if they wanted to.
"No way! We're coming with you! This journery is just beginning, right prince?" Finn asked to Cupid.
"Well, since we have come this far..." He said.
"That's how I like it!" Said Sirenella, giving to them all a group hug.
But they still needed a ship.
Sirenella said that, as princess of Salineas, she could borrow any ship, whenever she wanted.
And so she boarded the first unattended ship she saw.
"So, you are just going to steal one" Said Cupid.
"It's not stealing. It's borrowing without telling anyone" Sirenella explained awkwardly.
Once they were all aboard, they set the sails, with Sirenella at the helm.
"Route to Beast Island!".
They were going pretty slow, though. The ship couldn't get past the pier, because it was little windy that night.
"I'm on it!" Said Hordette pulling out her arm cannon once again, holding Rose Bud with the other arm. Finn and Sirenella gazed for whatever she was about to do.
Hordette positioned toward the stern of the ship and fired in the opposite direction of where they were directed. The shot gived a big push to the ship and sent it away from the pier.
Finn and Sirella cheered Hordette.
"You could have shot something!" Yelled Cupid to her.
-Meanwhile on the pier, next to the Sandy Crab Clab, the ships that Hordette hit with her shot were burning down and their owners were crying-
"Maybe" Hordette replied. She was proud of herself.
Cupid took Rose Bud from her arms with anger and went to look for a bed to make the little one sleep.
He was mad with Hordette, not only for her irresponsability and her insolence. Cupid was envious of her abilities.
While he was putting Rose Bud to bed in the room of the capitan, Cupid thought about how he treated Hordette.
After some time, Hordette, Emily and Finn went to the capitan bedroom to rest.
Cupid was still awake, but Rose Bud was sleeping so deeply.
"Sirenella said that by tomorrow evening we'll arrive" Hordette said.
She sat downd with Emily, keeping distance from Cupid.
Hordette belived that he was still mad at her, even if she didn't know why, but then the boy surprised her by leaning on her back.
"W-what does this mean?" Hordette asked to him.
"Nothing!" Cupid said a little embarrassed "I just wanted to. . . to feel how soft your hair is. The baby girl seems to enjoy it. . .".
Finn lay down next to him, resting their head on his legs.
After Finn said goodnight to them, they fell asleep in an instant.
It was the perfect time for Cupid to apologize with Hordette.
"I shouldn't have got mad with you, earlier. I know you wanted to do the right thing"
"The right thing for us, at least" Hordette sneered as she remembered those ships burning and the mariners crying.
"Anyway, it wasn't your fault" he said.
"I knew that" .
"I think I was just. . . a little bit. . . jealous" Cupid finally said it.
Hordette asked to him why should he be jealous: it made no sense to her.
"I'm kind of surprised you haven't noticed it yet . . . I have no powers" Cupid always felt bad for not having powers, since he was a kid.
"Oh, I've already noticed that when you couldn't get out from under Emily!" Said Hordette "But I thought it wasn't important".
Cupid said it was really important for him.
"I am a useless prince with no powers! I can't use magic, I can't teleport, I don't have wings. All I have is a basic knowledge of mechanics and this crossbow bracelt that I haven't used once!" He whined, not so loud, because he didn't want to wake up Rose Bud and Finn.
