Lily decided to skip her last period class. The young, dark-haired girl had had enough of Konoha's Ninja Academy and wished to return home. It was her 15th birthday after all.

She didn't care whether her sensei Konohamaru caught her skipping. The worse case scenario would be that the Ninja Academy would call her mother. Her mother, Valentina, was always cool. Cool as in her mind always seemed to be some place else. The way her mother stared off into nothing made her seemed depressed.

Lily spent more time communicating with her second parents, Uncle Suigetsu and Aunt Karin. Only that they lived far away.

Lily was also in constant contact with her her uncle Sasuke through letters.
She spoke with her other relatives more than she did with her mother. This upset Lily since she adored her mother and yearned for her affection, but how could she demand it if her mother was affectionate in other ways, such as not getting after her?
Lily's aunt Karin often advised her to be patient with her mother Valentina, who was still grieving the loss of a loved one. Valentina always refused to talk about Lily's father, so it could be his death.

As the rain began to fall, Lily made her way home. It was her birthday, and she was excited to see her second parents and beloved uncle Sasuke. Nothing seemed to be able to ruin her day.

"She's skipping school like her mom." The whispers of girls from her class could be heard in the distance.

"Excuse me?" Lily couldn't believe her ears. She was quite popular in school due to how smart and skillful she was, so being a victim of bullying was something new to her.

"Your mom was a bad person, and apparently you're following her footsteps by skipping class."

Her mother was a bad person? Lily did not communicate with Valentina a lot, but Valentina never mistreated her. Never made her feel bad. Her mother's only flaw was how detached she was to reality. "You're confusing my mother with someone else. My mother is a great person." Lily began walking away from her two classmates. Now, more than ever, she wanted to get home. She was sure that her family would all be there having a surprise party ready for her. They've been throwing surprise parties for Lily's birthday since she could remember.

"Your mother's name is Valentina, isn't it? My mom told me that your mom was an anbu and a traitor to the village. She killed many good people and gave Konoha's secrets to Orochimaru. They were both horrible people who hurt many."

Orochimaru, Lily's grandfather, was occasionally intimidating, but she couldn't imagine him harming others? Her mother being an anbu and a village traitor? It was the first time she'd heard anything like it. She was certain that her classmates were lying to cause her harm.
"Don't talk about my family that way!" Lily felt angry. Her blood was pumping and her heart pounding hard.

The three bullies expression changed and looked at her in disgust. "She has the sharingan!" One yelled before they ran away.

Lily stared in a puddle of water on the sidewalk at her reflection.
Her eyes were blazing red and bled profusely revealing a pair of Sharingans like those her 12-year-old cousin, Sarada, possessed.

Lily ran home, confused, as she had no idea she was related to the Uchiha clan.
