Y/NN's P.O.V.

I opened the closet doors and there laying in the far corner was Carter covering his ears in fetal position crying silently. I made my way to him not to scare him anymore than he already is.

"Hey buddy,"I say softly not wanting to be too loud in case of any surprise attacks.

Carter turns his head to my familiar voice and breaks down he shoots up from his spot and clings onto me making my heartbreak from his cries and how his body shook.

"Y/NN,The bad man got mommy,"Carter says between sobs I rub his back soothingly letting him know I was there and I wasn't gonna let anyone hurt him ever again.

Knowing his mothers gone I made it my mission to try and take this kid under my wing and give him a better life away from the violence. I didn't care how long it takes as long as this boy comes home with me.

I picked him up as he clings onto me for dear life and exit the apartment. We reported our findings and headed to the police station with Carter being traumatized he didn't wanna let me go so I held him. Making new friends comes in handy especially a social worker who works most cases like Carters so I gave him a call.

Well there was this lady I became friends with, she lost her life tragically and left behind a 6 year old boy,I was wondering is there anyway I could be his legal guardian?
Well normally these things take forever because fostering usually comes first but let me see what I can do bro,

It's no problem let me do paperwork and I'll call you back,You wanted to bring him home today?
Yes please he's to young to be put in the system

End of phone conversation

After the phone call with my friend Tyler I decided to message Camila and let her know what's happening.

Me : Hey love, um something tragic happened and I was wondering if you'd be okay with me taking in a 6 year old boy?

Future wifey:Babe what happened? And what like adopt?

Me:Nothing happened, to me at least I'll talk to you more about it when we come home baby,And kind of adopt I guess legal guardian it's Carter.

Future Wifey:OMG, ok love yes I'm fine with it,I'm still at the studio but we'll talk later love you baby

Carter is asleep in my arms every time I try to put him down his grip tightens so I just held him. Instead of Tyler calling me back he came straight to the department.

"So I'm gonna need you to sign all of this paperwork,I've been to your house so I passed you for the home inspection, And yea that's pretty much it after you sign those papers your the legal guardian of Carter Mendes,I also took the liberty of changing his last name to yours,"Tyler explains and I'm extremely grateful to him for working so fast.

"How did you do this fast?"I ask curiously

"I know and I'm friends with people from higher places, Just happy to help,"He says vaguely. He's not a bad guy so I know I can trust him so I signed all the paperwork and headed to my desk with Carter still latched onto me and finished my paperwork for today before heading home. Thankfully Carter sat in the backseat falling asleep immediately.
