You admired how he was going about everything so gingerly.

"I'd love to."
"Oh."
You could tell he was surprised, but pleasantly so.
"Did you have something in mind?"
"I was kind of hoping we could choose something together or maybe you could show me one of your favorites."
"Um, sure, but before we start would you mind if I ate dinner."
"Oh, yeah. Of course. I picked something up on the way home so I get it."
"What did you get?"
