They got to the hospital and the nurses took care of all of Keni's wounds and fractures. They had her in her own private room with an IV in her arm giving her the nutrition and water she was deprived of for the last 3 days shes been gone.
The agent, Spencer, had stayed by her side the whole time just like she asked. Neither of them spoke at all but knowing he was there made her feel safe. He would sit and read books quietly while she blankly stared at the TV that was on some random kids channel. She didn't bother changing it even though it was annoying.
None of the agents had come by yet but Spencer's phone had rung 4 times since she woke up from her nap three hours ago.
She's been scared, what if the man finds out where she is and comes to get her? What if the agents can never find the man and he gets away scotch free? What if he does this to other girls because she didn't stay? What if a hitman gets placed on her? Her man ran with a hundred anxieties. Even though Spencer was a trained FBI agent was she still in danger. To her it didn't look like the tall lanky man could really put up much of a fight honestly.
As if her anxiety was radiating off her the man finally looked up at her from his book. "Are you ok Keni?" His soft voice swept away any worry she had. Any panic in her body, gone with just the sound of his voice. It was soft, like he knew any loud sound would scare her to much. His voice matched him, delicate almost.
She nodded her head, she had already talked more in the last 4 days than she had since she went mute 5 years ago, so she decided to save her voice for the millions of questions she was gonna get from the group of agents.
He sat back in his seat when he saw her demeanor go from tense to relaxed. He needed her to stay calm and not go into an anxiety attack right now. His group had just pulled into the hospital parking and was on their way up to the two now.
He cleared his throat to speak again "so uh-" he stuttered, his speaking skills clearly not doing him any good in this situation. "My team should be here in a minute. W-whats gonna happen i-..." His voice got caught in his throat when his eyes met hers. Her big green eyes locked on him and her head slightly tilted, he could tell she was listening intently to what he was saying. Her face looked sunken in and the dark circles under her eyes were prominent. Still he couldn't help but admire her beauty, she was stunning.
She was confused as to why he stopped speaking mid sentence, he was just staring at her with a weird look on his face. She wanted to know what was gonna happen but couldn't bring herself to talk. Her voice had again shut down, despite knowing he's already heard her speak. She watched him snap out of whatever weird trance he was in and continue speaking. "what's gonna happen is, my boss and someone else is gonna come in here and ask you some questions about what happened."
Despite the fact that his heart was beating a million miles an hour, he made an effort to keep his voice calm for her sake. "It's gonna be difficult, and I know you're mute and talking isn't something you like to do but in order to catch the man that did this to you were gonna need you to talk ok? If you need me I'll be right next to you alright? You don't have to do any of this alone."
His words and tone made her feel safe with him, she could see his honesty. "You are safe with me."
