Third Person POV
*** The Desert ***"We can't wait much longer." Echo presses, Madi standing silently behind her. "McCreary has Raven and Shaw. One of them will break and fly that ship."
It was only a matter of time.
"You said Clarke was handling that." Octavia says letting out a scoff
"She is." Echo replies glaring right back at her. "But I'd rather not let missiles tell us she's failed."
"What's left of the first batallion is ready." Miller says walking to Octavia's side
"The commander's army is, too." Brell says gun held loosely in her arms.
"We're all the commander's army now." Indra rasps out scolding them both.
"So, where's the commander?"
******
"Kayleigh, where is he?"
Kayleigh turned and looked at Bellamy, expressionlessly.
"I know Asher has him. Where?"
He spent enough time looking for his son to know the boy wasn't here at all.
"Safe."
"Safe?" He repeats. "That all your going to say? We're heading into battle-
"Look around you, and what do you see?"
"An army, your army."
"My army for now- United only to fight a common enemy, under one leader." She says looking out to her people assembling- readying themselves for what's to come next.
"Kayleigh- where is he?"
"You don't understand." She scoffs, shaking her head. "It's safer for them to be apart.. This war, it doesn't end here, it just the beginning.."
"Kayleigh this is it- this is the last war any of us will have to be in, when we take the valley- it's over."
"Is it?" She says arching a brow. "Will all of Wonkru accept me as their leader? Will Octavia be content at staying at my side? Will Clarke kneel before me? Swear to never betray me?" She asks, and with each question she drew herself closer to Bellamy.
"Can you guarantee the safety of our children- that they won't be used to get to me?" She asks, tilting her head back, keeping her eyes level with Bellamy's- letting him see the fears that laid there.
"That our son won't be hunted because his blood is cursed like mine? Or that our daughter won't be used like I was?"
Bellamy's hand reach up, holding onto the sides of Kayleigh's face as he pressed his forehead against hers.
"I swear to you, nothing is going to happen to our kids." His voice thick with emotion, as he stared intently at her. "You have to trust me, Kayleigh, trust that I want what's best for all of us.. for our family.. believe in me-trust me like you've asked me to trust you."
What warmth that was in Kayleigh's eyes flooded away before Bellamy could finish speaking.
"My father once swore to my mother the same.. No." She replies coldly, pulling herself away from Bellamy's grasp. "We've done things your way-Clarke's way for too long. I won't take that chance."
"So what the fuck are you going to do, Kayleigh?" Bellamy shouts loosing his patience with her. "What your plan to keep them safe?"
