Chapter 15- When Things Just Started to Get Interesting

Jyn lay on her bed in her cottage for almost the whole day.

I can't believe it, she thought continuously, Gunnar's... gone?

Leckeo leaped up onto her bed and nipped gently at Jyn's hand, looking up at her. Jyn sighed and smiled at him, scratching him behind the ears. Leckeo sniffed around as he stepped onto her stomach and licked her face. Jyn chuckled as she patted him on the head. Leckeo settled down on her stomach and quickly fell asleep. Axel was out hunting. Jyn let out a long sigh. Then, a thought occurred her. She sat bolt up, causing Leckeo to yelp and tumble clumsily off the bed onto the floor. He looked up and grunted.

' Oh, sorry, Leck. ' said Jyn as she lifted Leckeo up and gently placed him into his basket. He licked her hand and fell asleep again. Jyn looked up, an excited smile stretching slowly across her face.

' Okay, okay... so... let me get this straight... ' said Ben at House Elliot. Anthony sat across them listening with great interest. Ben thought.

' So, ' Ben continued, ' Where man and phoenix last met. It means that we have to go all the way... back to the... '

' ... the core of the Earth, yes. ' said Jyn darkly. ' It's where Gunnar and Axel last met. " Man and phoenix ". Can you see? ' 

' That's very wise of you, Jyn. Well done. '

Ben looked concerned.

' Okay, so, we're figuring a puzzle that is the key to defeating Darkslaver, but we first have to find the key to that but in order to do that, we need to find the key in the core of the Earth? '

' Repeating key for about three times isn't really helping... but yeah. '

' Well, then there's only one thing left to say... ' Anthony began.

' Time for an adventure! ' said Jyn as she threw a fist into the air and Leckeo ( he had followed Jyn to House Elliot ) leaped up high in the air and landed with an excited grunt.

' Actually erm, no. I was going to say " ARE YOU MAD " but yeah... that'll work too. ' said Anthony blankly.

' I could use some help for that. Ben? ' Jyn turned to Ben. He nodded, ' Received and accepted. '

' Alright. Let's go! Ben, you ready? '

Ben nodded.

' You bet it! '

But when things just started to get interesting...

' Sir! ' John, one of the soldiers in Elliot Army, barged in.

' Did anyone teach you how to knock?! ' Anthony boomed. John flinched.

' Err... sorry, sir. But... '

John turned to Ben.

' The chickens! They've escaped! '

Ben crossed his arms and shook his head slowly.

' And what could be wrong with that? The chickens aren't even part of the Training Grounds. ' he said.

' Yeah, but they're in the Training Grounds! I don't... very... much like them. '

' You're scared of chickens? ' Jyn gasped, amused. Leckeo turned his back to John and trotted away to settle down beneath the table by the sofa.

' Ergh... those nasty, dirty, pecky things. They give me the creeps. '

' Whatever. Now, we're in the middle of a very important conversation now, so could you...? ' Anthony cleared his throat.

' Oh, yes... really, sorry, sir! Please accept my sincere apologies! '

And without another word John turned and ran out, wailing as he went. Ben sighed and turned to Jyn.

' Now I'm ready. ' he said.

' Then let's go. ' said Jyn courageously.
