16- The Plan

✨Draco POV✨

As I watched the sun rise and hear everyone in the common room getting ready for classes, I still laid in bed, scratching the dark mark. I wiped away the tears that I had been crying and got ready for school only so Y/n wouldn't worry.

When I was finished getting ready, I saw my mother's owl outside of my window with a letter. I grabbed it from the owl and started to read it

Draco,
Lord Voldemort wants to see you during Hogwarts' dinner time. You must show up or bad things will happen. Stay safe

As I put the letter away in my desk, I walked down into the common room to see Y/n, Sadie and Maddox all sitting down on the couches.

"Hey, there Draco." Sadie said as she got up from the couch to go and get her school bag.

"We were waiting for you." Maddox said as he came over and gave me a pat on the back.

"Yeah. I just...I overslept." I said changing my attitude to be the Draco that Y/n knows. Not the current one that is in pain.

"Well. I'm glad you're up but we need to head to class or we are going to be late." Y/n said as she walked over to me and gave me a kiss.

Sadie and Y/n went separate ways to their class while Maddox and I went to our first class together.

"You're lying aren't you? You didn't oversleep. You didn't sleep at all." Maddox said low and loud enough for only me to hear.

"Yeah. I didn't sleep but I don't want Y/n to worry." I responded back. "And she won't have to for much longer."

"What do you mean by that?" Maddox said to me concerned.

I didn't respond to him. Then he nudged me hard. "What do you mean by that Draco."

"I have a plan to protect Y/n. I will tell you more about it later. Now isn't the time." I said to him as we walked into our first class.

"Then when?" Maddox asked me.

"Before dinner, my mom sent me a letter this morning saying I have to go to the Manor during dinner." I said taking my seat and as class began.

As classes came and went, I went over the plan over and over in my head. I didn't want to go through with it. It would hurt too much. But I have no choice.

In our last class, I kept spacing out. Not even paying attention to the class.

"Draco. Earth to Draco." I heard Y/n say as she snapped her fingers at me, causing me to return to reality.

"Yeah?" I asked her.

"Are you paying attention?" She asked looking at me seeing if I was sick or something.

"Sorry. I'm just..tired." I said opening my book and started paying attention in class.

When class ended, I rushed out of the room and headed to the common room to get into clothes for dinner. Y/n and I didn't talk during that time at all which surprised me.

As I was preparing to apparate to the Manor for dinner, Maddox came into my room and closed the door behind me.

"Ever heard of privacy, Maddox?" I said trying to calm down.

"Yes. But it's almost dinner. So what's your plan to protect Y/n." Maddox asked me curiously.

"I don't want to. But I have to. It's the only way. If you want to protect Sadie, you might have to do it too." I said gazing out of my window.

"Do what?" Maddox said getting more frustrated with me.

"I have to obliviate her memories of me." I said quietly. Maddox's eyes grew and his jaw dropped.

"Draco, you can't. I won't do that to Sadie. You can't do that to her. It'll hurt you." Maddox said coming up behind me.

"I know. But it keeps her safe from the Dark Lord. So I must." I said taking another deep breath.

"There has to be another option other than erasing her memories." He said on the verge of tears. "It's going to tear you apart."

"It has to be done. I have to go to the Manor now." I said and then I apparated out of my room.

As I stood out in front of my home, I grew sad knowing when I returned, Y/n's memories would be erased. I opened the door and saw my father waiting for me.

"Nice to see you Draco. He's waiting." He said as I closed the door behind me

✨Y/n POV✨

As Sadie and I were at the dinner table eating, I saw Maddox sit down across from us. He looked like he was on the verge of tears. I looked around to see if Draco followed him but there was no sign of him.

"Maddox? Are you okay?" Sadie asked after she swallowed the food she had in her mouth.

He didn't respond. He only stood straight ahead at the wall behind us.

"Maddox, where's Draco?" I asked snapping my fingers at him.

His eyes focused on me with tears almost in his eyes.

"Y/n. I need to talk to you. Like right now. Alone." He said very quickly. I got up from where I was and he led me back into the common room into my room.

"Maddox. What do you need to talk to me about? Where's Draco." I asked really confused on what was happening.

"I can't hide it anymore. It's about Draco. I need to tell you the truth."
