--Toast’s POV--

Maya seemed surprised by the story and it was at least good to get it off my chest. I’ve had to keep it to myself this whole time since I couldn’t tell Ghost. I nodded, looking back at the road and suddenly slammed my foot on the break.  I thought we would make it to the next town, but… there wasn’t a next town.

Just a cliff. I looked over at Maya to see her staring at the cliff, eyes wide. I waited for her to look back at me and say something but she never moved. I slowly placed my hand on her shoulder and somehow she didn’t flinch or notice.

“Maya, are you okay?” I finally said which got her attention as she quickly turned her head to me.

“Yeah, uh, I’m okay… I need to go see something,” she said before suddenly and quickly getting out of the car and walking over to the cliff.

“Whoa, Maya watch where you walk!? I exclaimed, turning off the car and getting out of the car. I speed walked over to Maya, who was standing a bit too close to the edge. Worried she would fall, I quickly reached out and grabbed her hand, pulling her next to me.

“Don’t stand at the edge,” I told her and she nodded, still looking off the cliff. That’s when I hear footsteps approaching. I quickly turned her around with me as we faced Casket.

“Found you!” Casket exclaimed, laughing insanely as he pointed his knife at us. I quickly pulled out my gun which was in my hoister and pointed it at him.  I had to think of a plan, and quick. Looking behind me at the cliff, I looked down off of it. At the bottom, I swore I saw something… or someone.

That’s when it came to me. Quickly, I turned, wrapping my arms around Maya and facing her back to the cliff. She seemed startled as I heard Casket take a step closer.

“Stay safe Maya,” I whisper in her ear before placing my hands on her shoulders…

And pushing her off the cliff. I see her confused look turn to fear and I close my eyes so I don’t have to see her disappear from behind the cliff’s edge.

“Not a smart Idea, Toast,” I heard Casket say behind me and I opened my eyes, turning to face him.

“I want to make a deal with you…” I said and Casket froze, his head tilting to the side.

“I don’t make deals, you know that.”

“Just listen, please,” I say and after a while, Casket slowly lowers his knife. I sigh and talk.

“If you let me and Maya go and let Ghost take control… I will allow you to stay in Ghost. And you can take over and do what you need to do sometimes IF you don’t hurt us,” I told him, placing my gun back in my hoister.

“So I would still be able to take control and stab stab stab?” I nodded, adding,

“Just not us.” Casket waited a second before… nodding. I relaxed, knowing we were safe now.

“Can we please have Ghost back, just for a few days?” I asked and Casket willingly nodded, putting his knife in his back pocket.

“You better keep our deal then,” Casket said before he fell onto the ground, passing out. I ran over to the body and bent down. Checking, I calmed down seeing the pupils back to the original brown. Picking up Ghost, I set him in the back seat of the car before going over to the cliff and looking down.
